The expert care and support offered at Shooting Star House can also be provided in the community, such as a family's own home or school.

A team of specialist paediatric nurses, nursery nurses and care assistants are able to offer care, crisis intervention and sibling support. This is offered to families in their own environment enabling family life to continue as near to normal as possible. The Outreach Team liaises with the family's other professionals to ensure a seamless service is provided, enabling the child and family to remain in their own homes.

If the child has reached the end-of-life stage, the team will endeavour to support the family on a daily basis, with 24-hour on-call support at home.
