Shooting Star Children's Hospice provides care to children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families, in the place of their choice. This can range from the family home, at a child's school, or at Shooting Star House, our purpose-built facility in Hampton, Middlesex. We aim to work alongside all professionals involved in the child or young person's care at all times.
- Our Care Team is a nurse-led service concentrating on a multi-disciplinary approach to care
- The core team is made up of experienced Paediatric and Learning Disabilities Nurses, Nursery Nurses and Care Assistants
- We also have a Counsellor, Music Therapist and Social Worker
- Through an agreement with Richmond and Twickenham Primary Care Trust, we also have the services of Paediatric Physiotherapists
- Medical cover is provided 24 hours a day by a small number of local General Practitioners
- We have access to 24 hour symptom control advice, as well as the services of a Paediatric Palliative Care Consultant one day a week through a close relationship with the Symptom Care Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital
- All of our services are backed by the work of our Care Support Team who help ensure smooth running of our care services
- Our Outreach Team are based at Shooting Star House and visit families in the community, providing care on a regular basis as well as supporting and participating in end of life care at home (if families choose their home as the place to receive end of life care). The Outreach Team consists of experienced Paediatric Nurses, Nursery Nurses and Care Assistants. The team can make joint visits to families in the community alongside other care professionals.
