Our care services

Our care servicesOur Care Team are privileged to provide care and support to children, young people and their families – sharing the smiles on the good days, being there every step of the way through the more difficult times.

Care is offered to children and young people with life-limiting conditions including genetically inherited diseases such as neuromuscular and degenerative disease, malignant tumours and other childhood cancers, metabolic diseases, heart disease and any other conditions which limits life expectancy.

Working in close partnership with families, our multi-disciplinary approach to care helps to ensure that the needs of the whole family are met effectively. For example, there are support groups for siblings where they can take advantage of the facilities at Shooting Star House and enjoy regular outings. There is also a babysitting service for siblings provided by volunteers, allowing parents to go out for a break.

By providing support on every level – physically, emotionally and practically – we strive to enhance quality of life throughout the course of a child’s illness and beyond.

All care services and facilities at Shooting Star House, in the family home or out in the community are provided free of charge to our families, 365 days a year.
