Eight-year-old Nicholas has been supported by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for three years. In August, during the coronavirus pandemic, Nicholas stayed with us for emergency respite giving him the chance to have some fun whilst his family could feel comfortable in the knowledge that he was in a safe environment, enjoying himself.
Last year residents of Sheepfold Road, Guildford started a fun competition that’s gone onto grow and grow as over 50 residents sowed sunflower seeds to see whose would grow the tallest, whilst raising money their local children's hospice charity.
While the pandemic has meant we are currently delivering all our clinical care from Christopher’s and Shooting Star House is closed for now whilst families continue to shield, we have been looking at how we can use Shooting Star House flexibly to provide support. This happened for the first time last week, when we invited bereaved families to a special day of remembrance.
