A golf day organised by dedicated supporter Colin Rose has raised an amazing amount of money ‘fore’ Shooting Star Chase.
The annual event, now in its 11th year, was held at Kingswood Golf and Country Club and welcomed over 100 golfers who clubbed together in teams of 4 to play 18 holes, with an additional Par 3 challenge and ‘4 putt’ challenge – which alone raised £1,500.
The golfers were invited for a drink where they could take part in the silent auction which had lots of great prizes on offer which included golf gear, a Radley handbag, a Mulberry purse, theatre tickets and much more. After the round the participants were treated to sit down dinner, complete with games in order to raise even more money (a further £1,000!)
Following the dinner, there was a large auction with even more amazing prizes, led by auctioneer Jimmy Bruce. Most notably, the first lot was an All Inclusive Holiday for two donated by Club Med for any of their resorts! Other prizes included a Nike shirt signed by Sir Mo Farah, two return flights to New York, Four-ball vouchers for some of Surrey and London’s top golf clubs, afternoon tea vouchers and signed football and Formula One merchandise.
The whole event raised a magnificent £18,005 which will go on to help provide the vital care and support the families who use Shooting Star Chase desperately need. A huge thanks goes to all involved for their huge generosity and support.
Organiser Colin Rose said of the event; “Our Spring Charity Golf Day was another huge success!! Many many thanks to: the golfers who participated; the companies who donated auction lots and sponsored the golf tees and putting competition; and to Kingswood Golf & Country Club for hosting the event.”
