There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. Friends and relatives often feel deep grief\, but also uncertainty about what to say or how best to help\, often ending up saying nothing at all\, and leaving families even more isolated. This webinar offers a compassionate space for extended family members and friends to learn how to support loved ones through such a profound loss. \n  \nAbout the Session\nShooting Star Children’s Hospices is pleased to offer this new online session for those outside the immediate family. It is designed for friends\, aunts\, uncles\, siblings-in-law\, cousins\, and other important people in a bereaved family’s life. \n  \nLed by our qualified Counsellors\, the webinar will explore: \n\nWays to support loved ones following the death of a child\nApproaches that may bring comfort during grief\nHow to balance supporting others with looking after your own emotional wellbeing\n\n  \nParticipants will also have the opportunity to ask questions in a safe and supportive environment\, alongside others who understand the unique experience of supporting a grieving family.

A member of staff will be here during these times if you require any assistance. Bring your own lunch\, or there is food that you can purchase onsite. \nShooting Star staff will be on site from 10am until 3.30pm in branded uniform. During 11am and 2pm there will be a member of staff in the yurt at all times. \nTickets are for immediate family members only. Children under 18 must be with an adult. \nPlease book a ticket for each immediate family member known to SSCH who will be with you. We may not be able to supply your desired number of tickets if you do not book the correct number of tickets on Eventbrite. \nYour Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket. A member of the team will confirm that you have been successful in your request once we have seen your request. \nCarers do not need to request a ticket; they can enter for free. DESCRIPTION:Take time for yourself and enjoy crafts and an afternoon tea at Shooting Star House.\n\n\n\nEnjoy an afternoon tea\, take time for yourself\, recharge and chat with other mums. \nWe will have time to do some mindful crafts\, such as making bath bombs\, lip balms and jewellery\, maybe even some cake decorating. \nThere will also be the opportunity to get your hair and/or nails done by volunteer beauty specialists. This will be offered in a drop-in style\, with time available throughout the afternoon for you to receive these treatments. \nMid-afternoon\, we will have a break for some afternoon tea\, with sandwiches\, cakes and (of course) tea! Enjoy a glass of prosecco or nosecco\, whichever takes your fancy. \nWe look forward to welcoming you for a pre-Mother’s Day treat\, with lots of relaxing plans.

SUMMARY:Bereaved Parents Support Group (in person)
DESCRIPTION:Runs once per month from 5th March – 13th August  2026.\nWe really value offering a safe and supportive space for our families. Our Parent support group is facilitated by a qualified Counsellor and led by you.\n\nTogether we’ll commit to creating a compassionate and non-judgmental environment\, where parents can share experiences\, learn from each other\, and find support in coping with your grief.\n\nThe 6-session support group will run at the same time every month.  This is an in-person group at Shooting Star House.\n\n\nThose who have attended our Bereaved Parents Support Group have said how helpful it is to learn from each other and support each other. You can attend as an individual\, or some choose to attend as a couple. SUMMARY:Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House
DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open on Thursday mornings\, welcoming families to drop-in to our Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House\, our Bereavement Centre. There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. We will gather in the dining room\, but please note that hospice day-to-day practice will continue at Shooting Star House.\nAfter cafe\, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish to continue conversations. Our building closes at 5pm. \nIf you would like to bring a pet to a cafe\, please complete the pet request form at least a week in advance. \nNo need to RSVP.

SUMMARY:Mega Monday - February Half Term
DESCRIPTION:This half term\, we would like to welcome all families open to our services to come and use the facilities at Shooting Star House.\n\n\n\nFor our next Mega Monday\, join us between 10 -12.30pm to use the sensory room\, art room and Lifelites sensory equipment as well as Chinese New Year crafts! \nPlease note that children must be supervised by family members at all times in the building and we ask that no nut or Kiwi products are brought into the Hospice. \nJust drop in and enjoy a morning with us!

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Garson’s Farm for a Heats and Flowers themed Drop-In.\nGarsons is a family-run business which supports the community surrounding both its Surrey and Hampshire stores. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices has been the Garsons Esher’s chosen charity of the year for 2025/26. Find out more about the Charity of the Year Partnership here: https://www.garsons.co.uk/about-us/esher-charity-of-the-year. \nAs the Charity partnership comes to a close\, Garsons Esher are giving Shooting Star Families exclusive use of their teepee area on Saturday February 14th\, for a Hearts & Flowers themed drop-in\, exclusively for Shooting Star Families. \nJoin Shooting Star at Garsons for arts\, crafts and chocolates\, between 11am and 3pm and enjoy visiting their award-winning Garden Centre\, Farm Shop and Restaurant while you’re there. \nGarson’s Farm: Garsons Esher\, Winterdown Road\, West End\, Esher\, Surrey\, KT10 8LS. When you arrive\, please ask at the information point to be taken through to the teepee. \nUnfortunately\, we will not be able to provide food and drink\, but there will be opportunities to purchase on-site.
