DESCRIPTION:All parents and carers of Shooting Star are invited to our Parent Carer Forum\, which takes place four times a year on Zoom. Everyone is welcome to this informal meeting – and encouraged to bring a cup of tea and snacks! \nAt our forum\, we tell you about new ideas we have\, and ask your opinion about changing and growing aspects of our care. Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. This helps ensure that the care we provide is as meaningful as possible for all the families of Shooting Star. \nPlease come along if you are free. \nZoom details will be shared via text on the day – there’s no need to RSVP.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a summer seaside drop-in with lots of fun art and craft activities to explore! \n  \n\n\n\n\nCome along to meet other Shooting Star families and enjoy a variety of fun indoor and outdoor activities inspired by the seaside. \n  \nWe’ll have lots of arts and crafts activities to explore including sensory sand play\, creating your own “socktopus”\, making colourful fish mobiles\, sparkling sensory bottles and shaping your own clay fish with shimmering scales. There will also be plenty of shells to discover and use in your creations. \n  \nWhen it’s time to cool off\, we’ll have sweet summer treats to enjoy\, including ice creams\, lollies and candy floss. \n  \nWe look forward to welcoming you for a relaxed morning with a touch of seaside magic!

SUMMARY:Garden at Christopher's open for National Garden Scheme
DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme for the second time! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, who received a £450\,000 donation in 2024. \nAs our families will know\, the garden has been specifically designed with the needs of the children we support in mind\, from adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas and quiet corners to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices were delighted to welcome a beautiful addition to the garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin. The flowers were donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal-winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, which award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes designed with sustainability at its heart. \nWe would love for you to join us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s alongside members of the public; refreshments will be available. \nSupported families go FREE to this event. If you would like to attend\, please fill out the form by clicking the ‘RSVP’ link. Equally\, we are happy for supported families to join us on the day without prior commitment\, but please make yourself known to a member of staff upon arrival\, so you are not charged entry. \nHowever\, if you wish to support the National Garden Scheme\, you can purchase a ticket on the day\, but please do not feel obliged to do so. \nAdults: £5\nChildren: FREE
