DESCRIPTION:Spend the day with us at Christopher’s. Meet other grandparents and get involved in activities to share with your grandchildren.\n\n\n\n\nThe event is run by the Shooting Star counselling team. This is an opportunity to meet with other grandparents and share experiences. Learn from each other\, and participate in some activities together which you may like to share with your grandchild after the event.\nYou will be able to take part in a tour of Christopher’s\, meet members of our care team\, and to get to know some of the ways in which Shooting Star helps and about the support we provide. Enjoy lunch and refreshments and some time to socialise.\n  \n\nPlease make us aware if you are not able to attend\, or if you would like to know more about what to expect then please don’t hesitate to contact us at groups@shootingstar.org.uk. \n  \nAny grandparent currently supported by our service. Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. This helps ensure that the care we provide is as meaningful as possible for all the families of Shooting Star. \nPlease come along if you are free. \nZoom details will be shared via text on the day – there’s no need to RSVP.

The wonderful Mill Farm will be visiting us again!\n  \n\n\n\n\nJoin us at Shooting Star House to welcome spring with Mill Farm\, bringing a range of farm animals to cuddle\, stroke and play with. We will also have animal themed crafts and activities for bundles of family fun. Teas\, coffees and snacks will be available for you to enjoy. \n  \nWe hope to have lambs at this event. If you are or may be pregnant\, the government advises you to avoid close contact with livestock animals. \n  \nPlease park in the Sainsbury’s car park\, adjacent to Shooting Star House.

SUMMARY:Garden at Christopher's open for National Garden Scheme
DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme for the second time! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, who received a £450\,000 donation in 2024. \nAs our families will know\, the garden has been specifically designed with the needs of the children we support in mind\, from adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas and quiet corners to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices were delighted to welcome a beautiful addition to the garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin. The flowers were donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal-winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, which award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes designed with sustainability at its heart. \nWe would love for you to join us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s alongside members of the public; refreshments will be available. \nSupported families go FREE to this event. If you would like to attend\, please fill out the form by clicking the ‘RSVP’ link. Equally\, we are happy for supported families to join us on the day without prior commitment\, but please make yourself known to a member of staff upon arrival\, so you are not charged entry. \nHowever\, if you wish to support the National Garden Scheme\, you can purchase a ticket on the day\, but please do not feel obliged to do so. \nAdults: £5\nChildren: FREE
