DESCRIPTION:The new café launches on Friday 16th October 2026 \nA welcoming\, weekly drop-in space for families at Christopher’s Hospice.  A regular\, informal opportunity for families to meet\, access support\, maybe try a craft and enjoy refreshments together. \nStaff from our Community\, Family Support\, Counselling and Therapies teams will be on hand each week with a chance to catch up with our In-House team too\, over a coffee or tea. \nThe Garden Room Café is a safe space to share experiences in a friendly\, relaxed atmosphere. You may see familiar faces\, or get to know new families\, become more familiar with the hospice and learn how we can support you and how you can support each other. \nThe Café will open its doors for the first time on Friday 16th October. It will run every Friday morning from 10.00-11.30am.   \nThere is no need to book\, just sign in at Christopher’s reception and join us in the Garden Room. \nThis is a space for\, parents\, grandparents and other adult family members. Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. DESCRIPTION:Official Scout Group – at Christopher’s for children and young people with a life-limiting condition aged 6+.\n  \nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to embark on their Scouting journey. Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \n  \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \n  \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided.

There will an opportunity to get hands on with sensory crafts\, join in with campfire songs and explore tents. DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme for the fourth year! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, which received a £450\,000 donation in 2025. \nAs our families will know\, the garden has been specifically designed with the needs of the children we support in mind\, from adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas and quiet corners to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices was delighted to welcome a beautiful addition to the garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin. The flowers were donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal-winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, which award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes designed with sustainability at its heart. \nWe would love for you to join us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s alongside members of the public; refreshments will be available. \nSupported families go FREE to this event. With so many fun activities planned (5+\, including teens) at Shooting Star House. Throughout the day\, children will aim to solve the Shooting Star mystery! Who did it? Where? How? All will be revealed through detective-themed activities\, crafts and games\, with activities adapted to ensure they are age-appropriate and fun for all. \nPlease drop off at 10am\, pick up is at 3.30pm. \nOur siblings’ club helps children find comfort in being with other siblings and a chance to make some new friends or meet up with ones they have met before. \nActivities are supported by our Events and Family Support staff to ensure there is a familiar face to welcome everyone. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the activities throughout the day. \nKit list: \n\nWaterproof coat\nWater bottle\nPacked lunch/last night’s dinner in a tupperware (NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE)\nAny medicines in a named bag and handed to staff on arrival\n\nWe try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle\, and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them. \nWe are currently unable to offer swimming at our Siblings Day\, due to the pool at Shooting Star House being out of action. DESCRIPTION:Official Scout Group – at Christopher’s for children and young people with a life-limiting condition aged 6+.\nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to embark on their Scouting journey. Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided.
