SUMMARY:Garden at Christopher's open for National Garden Scheme
DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme for the fourth year! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, which received a £450\,000 donation in 2025. \nAs our families will know\, the garden has been specifically designed with the needs of the children we support in mind\, from adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas and quiet corners to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices was delighted to welcome a beautiful addition to the garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin. The flowers were donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal-winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, which award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes designed with sustainability at its heart. \nWe would love for you to join us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s alongside members of the public; refreshments will be available. \nSupported families go FREE to this event. If you would like to attend\, please fill out the form by clicking the ‘RSVP’ link. Equally\, we are happy for supported families to join us on the day without prior commitment\, but please make yourself known to a member of staff upon arrival\, so you are not charged entry. \nHowever\, if you wish to support the National Garden Scheme\, you can purchase a ticket on the day\, but please do not feel obliged to do so. \nAdults: £5\nChildren: FREE

Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \n  \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \n  \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:All parents and carers of Shooting Star are invited to our Parent Carer Forum\, which takes place four times a year on Zoom. Everyone is welcome to this informal meeting – and encouraged to bring a cup of tea and snacks! \nAt our forum\, we tell you about new ideas we have\, and ask your opinion about changing and growing aspects of our care. Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. This helps ensure that the care we provide is as meaningful as possible for all the families of Shooting Star. \nPlease come along if you are free. \nZoom details will be shared via text on the day – there’s no need to RSVP.

Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. Meet up with other families to share your experience or make memories on your own; it’s up to you. We have a yurt reserved between 11am-2pm for a break or lunch. A member of staff will be here during these times if you require any assistance. Bring your own lunch\, or there is food that you can purchase onsite. \nShooting Star staff will be on site from 10am until 3.30pm in branded uniform. During 11am and 2pm there will be a member of staff in the yurt at all times. \nTickets are for immediate family members only. Children under 18 must be with an adult. \nPlease book a ticket for each immediate family member known to SSCH who will be with you. We may not be able to supply your desired number of tickets if you do not book the correct number of tickets on Eventbrite. \nYour Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket. A member of the team will confirm that you have been successful in your request once we have seen your request. \nCarers do not need to request a ticket; they can enter for free. SUMMARY:GSA Sensory Theatre Experience
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an Under The Sea Sensory Theatre Experience\, delivered by students from Guildford School of Acting.\nUnder The Sea is a live\, sensory theatre experience\, designed and delivered by BA (Hons) Applied and Contemporary Theatre students from The Guildford School of Acting. \nJoin Melody the Mermaid as she and her marine puppet pals adventure through Wallows Cove. Melody lost her sea treasures during a strong wave of currents\, and she needs your help to find them! Melody loves to sing and explore the world around her. The sensory experience uses light\, sound\, music\, singing and sensory objects to deliver the story. \nThe performance is recommended for children aged 5+. Siblings are encouraged to come along! The show will last approximately 40 minutes. \nThe story will be performed by students from The Guildford School of Acting\, all of whom have a relevant DBS. Shooting Star staff will be supporting. \nThis session will be held in the Music Studio at Christopher’s. Parents are encouraged to stay and support the experience for their child. Please arrive at 13.45 for a 14.00 start. \nPlease book one ticket per person attending.
