SUMMARY:Siblings Social at Rugged Earth Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Book a space for your child on our siblings day at the amazing Rugged Earth Adventure centre. The siblings will try all sorts of activities from Nerf guns\, den building\, campfire building and even cooking their own lunch! \nWear clothes and trainers you don’t mind getting muddy and wet. This event will carry on rain or shine- there are plenty of places to warm up and dry off. Water bottles\, waterproof coat\, hat and gloves if cold\, change of clothes and wellies are required. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their session. \nPlease let us know of any dietary requirements\, allergies\, or medical needs. Please arrive a little early (10.40am) to fill in a siblings annual consent form where you can tell us about any medication etc. \nWe will run a waiting list for this event\, so please email familyevents@shootingstar.org.uk if you would like to be added to this list. \nPlease arrive promptly to collect your rugged adventurer at 3pm! \nProgramme\, 11am – 3pm: \n11.00: Welcome and briefing \n11.15: Nerf Battlefield \n12.00: Drink and biscuit break \n12.15: Bushcraft: Shelters and Survival fires \n13.00: Campfire lunch \n13.30: Axes and Arrows \n14.10 Marshmallow Smores \n14.30: Nerf Lazer Spec Ops \n14.55: Certificates and Farewell \nActivities: \nNerf Range: \nIssued with a camouflage jacket\, safety glasses\, and choice of favourite Nerf blaster. Two teams will play a variety of Nerf tag games on a purpose-built zone with barricades\, sandbags\, and camo nets. \nAxe Throwing: \nUsing rubber safety axes thrown at bristle targets to score points. \nSurvival fires: \nOne of the most important bushcraft and survival skills\, all will be taught its many uses and methods of lighting both modern and ancient. Cooking marshmallows over the fire is also included in this activity. \nSurvival Shelters: \nChildren will build a variety of improvised survival shelters using natural materials they gather from the land. Mini shelters are the perfect tool to demonstrate these skills. \nArchery: \nOne of the oldest skills known to man used for hunting and battle. More exciting than the average fixed point range children will stalk through the woods to find their targets using full-size bows and sucker dart arrows or mini crossbows. \nNerf Laser Ops: \nEquipped with a laser tag gun\, guests will play a variety of laser tag games\, both team and individual. All scores will be collected on a phone app to be relayed at the end of the games. \nCampfire Meal: \nGuests are served a fire cooked sausage bap and a variety of snacks including crisps\, fruit\, and chocolate whilst seated around the campfire. Personal packed lunches can also be eaten in this area. \nFacilities: \n* Dedicated outdoor and covered briefing tents \n* Tailor-made covered seating and campfire area for cooking \n* Bespoke team tag obstacle terrain \n* Stealth camouflage range \n* Dedicated\, secure woodland bushcraft teaching area \n* Storage area for personal items \n* Picnic area indoor and outdoor \n* Male/female toilet \n* Onsite first aider \n* Dedicated parking area for cars and coaches and overflow car park \n* Indoor café

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again when we would like to borrow the Siblings (5+) of children who are currently receiving our support for the day at Shooting Star House! Things are about to get messy\, so please ensure you look closely at the kit list below. \nOur siblings’ days help children find comfort in being with other siblings and a chance to make some new friends or meet up with ones they have met before. \nAmongst several therapeutic activities\, we will be using the hydrotherapy pool for a splashy swimming session and are also lucky enough to be joined by Rocksteady\, who will be leading our siblings in a musical workshop! Activities are supported by our team of therapists to ensure we give siblings the emotional support they need. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the therapeutic activities throughout the day. \nKit list \n\nSwimmers and a towel\nWaterproof coat\nChange of clothes\nWater bottle\nPacked lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware (NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE)\nAny medicines in a named bag and handed to staff on arrival \n\n  \nWe try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. DESCRIPTION:Book a space for your child on the fantastic siblings’ day (bereaved and supported). Spaces fill up quickly so make sure you don’t delay in RSVP’ing! Please note this is for 5 plus 140cm or taller. This a great opportunity for siblings to come together and make new friends. If you are unsure if this event is for you\, please contact the Hospice and we can chat this through with you. \nPlease bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. Please don’t rely on the cafe\, as we won’t be in the main cafe area – we have our own dining area. Please no nuts. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their session. \nSpecial socks will be provided\, that we must wear at all times when on the equipment. Please keep an eye on your emails if we are required to ask for a consent form. Please ensure you drop off your child to a member of staff\, please don’t drop off in the car park. We need to see an adult and check consent forms and contact numbers when you drop off. \nPlease drop off at 10am and the session will start at 10.30am. We have an hour’s session and then have a room booked to eat our packed lunch in. \nPlease arrive at 12.30pm to collect – look out for the Shooting Star staff wearing the branded clothing when you get there.

Kick start your festive period with Rudolf and his friends\nFather Christmas’s reindeers are getting ready to go to the North Pole soon\, but before they go they wanted to invite our special families to come and see them. \nWe hope you can make it. Wheelchair friendly\, but a little off roading required. Please note this is an outside event\, so wrap up warm. Parking onsite\, if you can car share then we would recommend that you do. GU10 2HL. You will see a small island with a tree planted in the middle – just infront of the black metal gates \nWhen you arrive at the magical Silverbeck\, you will see black ornate gates and a buzzer \nBe sure to press the buzzer for Silverbeck (Not the Farm) \nWiggle your way down the driveway and keep going towards the barn. Parking is available but please park sensibly. We have families arriving after your hour slot as well! Note there is no ramp into the barn\, a slight step up\, so it might be a wiggle and a jiggle to get wheelchair users in\, but its possible! Very uneven ground and wellies/coats reccomended . Please save slots for the children\, so if you can manage with 1 adult ticket and the rest children in your group that would be magical! Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:For the last 11 years\, along with 100s of other cycling Santas\, Njinga have cycled a 20 km route from Richmond\, SW London to deliver gifts to our incredible children at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. \nPolice are stopping traffic for this special occasion\, so make sure you are here promptly to welcome the cycling Santas as they come into the car park at SSH. The Santas will enter through the garden gate and place their gifts under the tree in Sparkle. These gifts will be scooped up by our Shooting Star Elves and gifted to our children throughout the festive period. There will be a brass band to guide us all in some festive carol singing. \nThe dining room will be your space to avoid the crowds and enjoy a hot chocolate in peace. The Santas can’t stay long as the police can only stop traffic for so long\, but stay with us as you normally would for a Drop-In session and we can do some Christmas crafting. We will be making some fabulous Christmas Decorations for you to take home with you. \nBetween 9.45am and 10.30am access to the building safely will be very tricky\, so please arrive at 9.15am to avoid the rush! We hope to see you there!!

Shooting Star has been kindly given a private appointment just for us to zoom\, dance\, and twirl on the ice. There are ramps to ensure that all of our families can reach the ice rink. They have a boarding ramp for access by users of wheelchairs\, powered chairs\, and people with reduced mobility\, and a safe covered cabin area….with central heating! \nImpossible Dream sails all year round and has a skilled and trained crew to help us. \nWe are offering this to children and young people who would benefit from this as a sensory experience. \nThe sound of the water lapping the front of the boat\, the wildlife that we pass\, and maybe even the rain on the roof of the Impossible Dream’s awning. \nSpace is limited so we are offering space for 3 wheelchair users and a parent or carer each. There is an opportunity to transfer onto a bench or chair if that is appropriate but rest assured chairs can board the board and stay on for the duration of the trip. \nWhilst on the boat\, we ask that the young person and carer remain seated at all times\, for safety reasons this is very important. We will review all the RSVPs and ensure that our care team is in agreement that this event is safe for you to attend. \nWe can’t wait to see you there. SUMMARY:Teen siblings half term climbing event
DESCRIPTION:Has your teen been “climbing the walls” this half term? Well\, why not encourage them to spend the morning with other teen siblings of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nWe will start the day with a 90-minute session with a fully trained instructor and of course\, all safety equipment provided. Working to their own ability with a relaxed session at Blue Spider\, Guildford. \nMeet us there with a packed lunch and some money if they want to purchase anything from the cafe afterward. We may need to communicate some documents with you from Blue Spider so please ensure these are returned as quickly as possible so we don’t hold up the session when we get there. If your teen is worried about not knowing anyone\, please reassure them that there are no cheesy “tell us your name and something fun about yourself” icebreakers – just a bunch of teens climbing and “hanging” out! One of the Family Support Team members will be there at all times to ensure the event goes smoothly.
