Meet up with other families to share your experience or make memories on your own; it’s up to you. We have a yurt reserved between 11am-2pm for a break or lunch. A member of staff will be here during these times if you require any assistance. Bring your own lunch\, or there is food that you can purchase onsite. \nShooting Star staff will be on site from 10am until 3.30pm in branded uniform. During 11am and 2pm there will be a member of staff in the yurt at all times. \nTickets are for immediate family members only. Children under 18 must be with an adult. \nPlease book a ticket for each immediate family member known to SSCH who will be with you. We may not be able to supply your desired number of tickets if you do not book the correct number of tickets on Eventbrite. \nYour Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket. A member of the team will confirm that you have been successful in your request once we have seen your request. \nCarers do not need to request a ticket; they can enter for free. DESCRIPTION:Join other siblings (aged 5+) in the forest to make crafts from nature and test your fire lighting skills! \nWe are excited to be working with Bushy Tail Tribe to enjoy a 2-hour forest school session in the woods. We will be making crafts from natural resources\, having a go at fire lighting with flint and steel\, before cooking a hot snack over the fire. There will be some time at the end for free play and lunch! \nPlease arrive at 10.30am\, so we can start promptly. \nPlease note that this is an outside event\, so wear layers appropriate for the weather. Please bring a waterproof coat\, in case it rains. There is parking on-site. \nFurther Instructions: \nBushy Tail Tribe is based on 35 acres of privately owned woodland. As you turn off Lyne Lane\, there will be a sign for Fangrove Park. Drive down this road\, keeping the caravan park on your left. You will reach a sign saying Wesbrook Farm and Bushy Tail Tribe\, follow the arrow to the right\, through some wooden gates. Follow the road down until you reach a second pair of gates (with a Bushy Tail Tribe sign on the front). Go through these gates and follow the path down to the car park. There will be members of staff on hand to assist with directions to the car park. \nPlease book one space per sibling. Parents and families are welcome to stay on-site\, but there is minimal indoor space. \nPacking List: \n\nWaterproof boots/wellies/trainers (if not due to rain)\nLong-sleeve lightweight top – in hot weather\, we allow the children to wear a t-shirt\nThin trousers (pyjama bottoms are great – this is to protect them from stinging nettles and tick bites).\nSun hat\n\nIn bag: \n\nLightweight waterproof jacket\nThin waterproof trousers\nSun cream on before coming and have a bottle in your child’s bag\nWater bottle\nChange of clothes\nSnack\nPacked lunch\n\nThere will be time at the end of the session for the children to have their lunch and play.

DESCRIPTION:Flourish is a Music Therapy group for children and young people aged 7-10 years old who have a brother or sister who is supported by the hospice.  \nThis therapy group is a space where children can share their experiences with other children and explore their emotional world with support from one of our experienced therapy team members.  \nClick ‘Request a place’ and a therapist will be in contact to discuss the group in more detail. We ask that siblings attending this group aim to come to all sessions.  \nThe group will run over 8 sessions in total and will take place weekly from 14th April to 9th June\, with no session on 26th May due to the half term break.

Everyone is welcome to this informal meeting – and encouraged to bring a cup of tea and snacks! \nAt our forum\, we tell you about new ideas we have\, and ask your opinion about changing and growing aspects of our care. Being able to talk to you about the care you receive helps us know what works well and what we can improve. We’re grateful to every parent and carer who gives us their time by attending the forum. DESCRIPTION:A fun day for our bereaved and supported siblings to come together for a day of detective mischief! \n\n\n\n\nSiblings’ holiday club is set to be a brilliant\, fun-packed day. With so many fun activities planned (5+\, including teens) at Shooting Star House. Throughout the day\, children will aim to solve the Shooting Star mystery! Who did it? Where? How? All will be revealed through detective-themed activities\, crafts and games\, with activities adapted to ensure they are age-appropriate and fun for all. \nPlease drop off at 10am\, pick up is at 3.30pm. \nOur siblings’ club helps children find comfort in being with other siblings and a chance to make some new friends or meet up with ones they have met before. \nActivities are supported by our Events and Family Support staff to ensure there is a familiar face to welcome everyone. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the activities throughout the day. \nKit list: \n\nWaterproof coat\nWater bottle\nPacked lunch/last night’s dinner in a tupperware (NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE)\nAny medicines in a named bag and handed to staff on arrival\n\nWe try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle\, and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them. \nWe are currently unable to offer swimming at our Siblings Day\, due to the pool at Shooting Star House being out of action. We hope this will be available at future events.

DESCRIPTION:Join for an information sharing session on what can be expected for young people over the age of 14 as they enter transition to adulthood and adult social care.\nJoin us for a Transition Q&A session on Zoom. \nAnna\, our social worker for transition\, will explain the changes in law from children to adult care\, the Mental Capacity Act\, Continuing Care and Social Care. Most importantly\, we will tell you about the resources and services available to support you. Please come along to listen or ask questions. We will follow up with 1:1 meetings as needed\, especially if we can’t answer all of your questions during the session. \n  \nThe event will be held via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Official Scout Group – at Christopher’s for children and young people with a life-limiting condition aged 6+. \nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to embark on their Scouting journey. Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \n  \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \n  \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided.

SUMMARY:Garden at Christopher's open for National Garden Scheme
DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme for the second time! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, who received a £450\,000 donation in 2024. \nAs our families will know\, the garden has been specifically designed with the needs of the children we support in mind\, from adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas and quiet corners to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices were delighted to welcome a beautiful addition to the garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin. The flowers were donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal-winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, which award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes designed with sustainability at its heart. \nWe would love for you to join us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s alongside members of the public; refreshments will be available. \nSupported families go FREE to this event. If you would like to attend\, please fill out the form by clicking the ‘RSVP’ link.
