We will show you the techniques of story massage that you can do at home together as well. Then make some goodies to ensure the pampering can continue at home\, like bath bombs\, essential oil rollers and more. \nThis event offers a unique opportunity for you to recharge\, feel pampered\, and form supportive relationships with other Mum’s and their children. \nWe understand that schedules can change\, and it may be necessary to cancel\, so please let us know in advance to allow us to fill your place with another deserving Mum. Please book 2 tickets\, one for you and one for your child so we know who’s coming. SUMMARY:Sailing Social for supported young people
DESCRIPTION:This event is for supported young people aged from 10 upwards. \nFrensham Sailability says: \n“Our sailors frequently comment that\, when sailing\, they are freed from their limitations and can compete on equal terms with any able-bodied sailor. We help you do this by providing a range of specially designed boats and the necessary support facilities. With the help of our experienced volunteers\, you can learn to sail\, or enjoy sailing again\, and develop your skills as far as you wish – to international competition level if you want!” \nNo previous experience of sailing is necessary but the use of hands is required. \nNew sailors can go out with an experienced ‘buddy’ who will explain what sailing involves. However\, our mission is to encourage independent sailing as much as possible. Frensham Pond provides a uniquely safe environment for this. \nThis is an opportunity for your children to experience sailing and the freedom of being in control of their boat. They will have the opportunity to go out on a 1-1 smaller boat with an experienced volunteer and also in a bigger group boat if their mobility allows.” \nAll safety equipment and wet weather gear are provided\, along with access to the clubhouse where parents and carers are welcome to stay for the duration or can spectate from dry land. \nPlease bring along a packed lunch (we will provide cake and snacks)\, a change of clothes\, and a towel (good old British weather may mean we sail in the rain). \nAs well as the experienced volunteers at Frensham\, the group will be supported by a nurse\, HCA\, family support worker\, and Shooting Star volunteers. This opportunity is suitable for young people aged 10 and over that would enjoy socialising with others. A nurse will be in contact to ask any questions if your child’s care plan isn’t up to date on our system and if their needs can be safely supported at the event.

DESCRIPTION:This is an entire day at Chessington World of Adventures\, seeking thrills and admiring all the wonderful animals there\, and definitely having ADVENTURES! \nThis is a joint day for both our bereaved and supported siblings at Chessington. Age 7+. \nDrop off and pick up will be at Drop Off\, Express\, and Coach parking located close to the Hotel/Lodge car park. Drop off will be at 10.30am and pick up at 4.00pm. \nPlease send your child with lunch and drinks\, waterproofs\, a hat\, sun cream\, and any money you may want them to have\, in their own backpack which they will need to carry themselves. Having everything named helps us a great deal\, but please ensure they don’t bring high-value items with them. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their day.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the popular demand for theme park tickets\, we are delighted to say that Merlin Magic Wand has shared with us some tickets for Thorpe Park for families to enjoy. Please note that these tickets are only for those who have not yet had family tickets for any other of the theme parks this year. \nThe day is yours to spend how you wish! Tag up with other families to share your experience or make memories on your own\, it’s up to you. Children under 18 must be with an adult. Please read all the information very carefully when your tickets are issued. You will need a wheelchair pass that requires you to make arrangements before you arrive and height restrictions can apply to many rides so please check the attraction’s main site to make sure it is suitable before requesting tickets. If you arrive on the day without your wheelchair pass\, you will need to queue up and present your blue badge to get the passes that you need. \nTicket codes will be sent to you directly (via our family support team email\, the Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket) and are non-transferable to another date once you have booked the date of your choice. \nPlease reply with all the names of each family member known to SSCH who will be with you. \nIf you have already received tickets to another attraction from Merlin via us this year\, I’m afraid we must leave these tickets to other families. SUMMARY:Teen Siblings - Paddle Boarding
DESCRIPTION:Meet us a Shooting Star House and jump on board the bus for a short trip to a Paddling Boarding location near Hampton Court. Starting with a lesson to learn the basics and then head out for some fun down the river. All equipment is provided. Please ensure the young people bring sun cream and a sun hat\, a water bottle and a packed lunch. Their packed lunches will be stored at Shooting Star House whilst we are out\, but please use an ice pack as we don’t have access to a fridge on the day. Afterwards\, we will return to Shooting Star House to enjoy lunch in the garden\, play some garden games and have a catch-up. Please remember no nuts. If you young person isnt able to swim we would ask that you don’t attend this event as a basic level of competence in the water is required\, even though life jackets are provided. We recommend that you wear old clothes and shoes/crocs and bring a towel and plastic bag to put your wet things into. Please bring a dry outfit to change into as well.

For a quarter of a century\, readers have been swishy-swashying and splash-sploshing through this award-winning favourite. \nFollow and join in the family’s excitement as they wade through the grass\, splash through the river\, and squelch through the mud in search of a bear. What surprise awaits them in the cave on the other side of the dark forest? Let’s make a sensory book together to accompany this family favourite\, which you can take home with you to enjoy again and again. \nWe hope to have up to eight supported children attending. We will have 1 Nurse\, 1 Health Care Assistant and 1 Family Support Worker at Christopher’s. We do ask that if your child has complex care needs\, that you remain close by and enjoy a cup of tea in the Dining Room. We ask that any feeds\, routine medicines\, and pad changes are completed before or after the event. Our nurse will be able to administer emergency medicines if required. \nPlease note that if our nursing team are called away last minute before the event\, we will ask that you have a parent or carer that remains in the room at all times during the event.

DESCRIPTION:The Festival of You – a mini therapeutic festival for our Siblings\nIt’s that time of year again where we would like to borrow the siblings (5+ years) of the children cared for by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nThe Festival of you is all about spending the day with other siblings learning how to master the art of tie dye\, finding a moment of calm and learning how to journal with our Art Therapist and\, then having a mini rave in the hydro pool… and that’s just a taster of what’s in store! Flares\, tie dye clothes\, silly hats and wacky outfits are very welcome if you fancy it! \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings. Activities are supported by our therapists to ensure we can give siblings the support they need. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware.(NO NUTS PLEASE). Candy floss and other more sensible snacks will be provided to make sure they are rewarded for their hard work. \nIf anyone at home has tested positive for Covid we ask that you test your child (of all ages) before they come. We try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them.

DESCRIPTION:The Festival of You – a mini therapeutic festival for our Bereaved Siblings\nIt’s that time of year again where we would like to borrow the Bereaved Siblings (5+) for a Festival! \nThe Festival of you is all about spending the day with other siblings learning how to master the art of tie dye\, finding a moment of calm and learning how to journal with our Art Therapist and then having a mini rave in the hydro pool… and that’s just a taster of what’s in store! Flares\, tie dye clothes\, silly hats and wacky outfits are very welcome if you fancy it! \nOur siblings’ days help children find comfort in being with other bereaved siblings. Activities are supported by our therapists to ensure we give siblings the support they need. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Candy floss and other more sensible snacks will be provided to make sure they are rewarded for their hard work! \nIf anyone at home has tested positive for Covid we ask that you test your child (of all ages) before they come. We try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them.

DESCRIPTION:Relax and unwind at our “Ibiza retreat” (AKA Christopher’s) with some mindfulness activities\, smoothie making\, a sound bowl relaxation session\, glitter tattoos\, creative activities and a take away lunch. Catch up with friends and meet some new ones too. (Please note this is not a sibling event). \n1 Nurse\, 1 HCA and 1 Family Support Worker will attend the event. We hope to have up to 12 supported children attending. We do ask that if your child has complex care needs\, that you remain close by. Any feeds\, routine medicines and pad changes are ideally completed before the event to help maximize our time. Our nurse will be able to administer emergency medicines if required.

SUMMARY:Siblings Social at the amazing Rugged Earth Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Book a space for your child on the fantastic siblings day at the amazing Ruggerd Earth Adventure centre. The siblings will try all sorts of activities from Nurf guns\, den building\, camp fire building and even cooking their own lunch! \nWear clothes and trainers you don’t mind getting muddy and wet. This event will carry on rain or shine\, there are plenty of places to warm up and dry off. Water bottles\, waterproof coat\, hat and gloves if cold\, change of clothes and wellies are required. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their session. \nPlease let us know of any dietary requirements\, allergies or medical needs. Please arrive a little early (10.40am) to fill in a siblings annual consent form where you can tell us about any medication etc. \nWe will run a waiting list for this event\, so please email familyevents@shootingstar.org.uk if you would like to be added to this list. \nPlease arrive promptly to collect your rugged adventurer at 3pm! \nProgramme for the day\, 11am – 3pm:11.00: Welcome and briefing. \n11.15: Nerf tag games. \n12.00: Drink and biscuit break. \n12.10: Bushcraft\, traps and snares. \n12.40: Campfire lunch. \n13.10: Catapults and Axe throwing. \n13.50: Survival fire lighting and marshmallow smores. \n14.30: Nerf lazer spec ops. \n14.55: certificates and farewell. \nActivities info: \nNerf Range: Issued with a camouflage jacket\, safety glasses and choice of favourite Nerf blaster. Two teams will play a variety of nerf tag games on a purpose build zone with barricades\, sandbags and camo nets. \nCatapults: Firing tennis ball from the giant beach catapults to hit as many targets as possible. \nAxe Throwing: Using rubber safety axes thrown at bristle targets to score points. \nSurvival Fire Lighting: One of the most important bushcraft and survival skills\, all will be taught its many uses and methods of lighting both modern and ancient. Cooking marshmallows over the fire is also included in this activity. \nTraps and snares: Our Bushcraft experts teach a variety of techniques which the children will get a chance to practise. \nNerf Laser Ops: Equipped with a new laser tag gun\, guests will play a variety of laser games\, both team and individual. All scores will be collected onto the app. Who will be the top 3 laser nerfers? \nCampfire Meal: Guests are served a fire cooked sausage/vegi sausage bap and variety of snacks including crisps\, fruit and chocolate whilst seated around the campfire. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION HAS NOW CLOSED but don’t worry\, you can still join us!  Please email events@shootingstar.org.uk for full information. \nPut your best foot forward this New Year and join us for the first Painshill Planet Walk as part of this year’s Shooting Star Space Race. \nThe first event of this year’s mission to return to Earth is a fully accessible 2.5k (or 5k) walk around the beautiful gardens of Painshill which has been transformed into an intergalactic planet trail.  With sensory activities and games along the route\, we are hoping you will join us as we power up our rocket and head home. \nFour-legged friends are of course welcome (on short leads) and prizes will be available for the best-dressed alien\, planet\, family and of course dog! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent and accessibility information\n\nFor entry\, you must arrive by 10am otherwise you will have to buy another ticket at the regular Painshill ticket price\nNo flashing lights\nThere will be ambient amplified music in specific areas of the walk. It will only be used as background noise and will not include loud bangs\nThe route is accessible to wheelchairs with a paved route all the way around\, the café and shop are also accessible to wheelchair users.\nAccessible toilets available at the café\nVisit the park’s website for information on how to get to Painshill.

Spend the day with other siblings learning how to make a “fiery” rock song with the amazing Rock Steady company\, come back down to “earth” in the company of a variety of exciting minibeasts that will help inspire some insect artwork. take a deep breath of “air” and enjoy a relaxation session and of course Siblings Day isn’t complete without a splash in the warm “water” of our Hydrotherapy Pool. \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings who have similar experiences. All of these activities are supported by one of our Therapists at Shooting Star House. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Hot chocolate and s’mores will be provided to make sure we are rewarded for our hard work! \nAs before\, evidence of a negative Lateral Flow for children 12 and above needs to be shown to reception at drop off. DESCRIPTION:An Earth\, wind\, water and fire-themed therapeutic day with other siblings. \nIt’s that time of year again where we would like to invite bereaved Siblings (5+) of the children cared for by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices to a day that’s all about them. Spend the day with other siblings learning how to make a “fiery” rock song with the amazing Rock Steady company. Come back down to “earth” in the company of a variety of exciting minibeasts that will help inspire some insect artwork. Take a deep breath of “air” and enjoy a relaxation session and\, of course\, Siblings Day isn’t complete without a splash in the warm “water” of our Hydrotherapy Pool. \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings who have similar experiences. All of these activities are supported by one of our Therapists at Shooting Star House. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Hot chocolate and s’mores will be provided to make sure we are rewarded for our hard work! \nAs before\, evidence of a negative Lateral Flow for children 12 and above needs to be shown to reception at drop off. SUMMARY:Just Juniors sensory and social session for 7-11 year olds
DESCRIPTION:This event is for supported children who are 7-11 years old\, who would benefit from sensory activities. \nBuckle up and prepare to Blast-Off in your rocket on a multisensory exploration of the solar system with this fully immersed out of space experience. There will be an opportunity for everyone to come together but we will break into groups to explore space using lights\, sounds and other exciting materials. Our mission wouldn’t be complete without making sure we are prepared for Valentines day\, so expect to return to earth full of love! \nWe hope to have up to eight supported children attending. We will have 1 Nurse \,1 Health Care Assistant and 2 Family Support Workers at this event at Shooting Star House. We do ask that if your child has complex care needs\, that you remain close by and enjoy a cup of tea in the Dining Room. We ask that any feeds\, routine medicines and pad changes are completed before or after the event. Our nurse will be able to administer emergency medicines if required. \nPlease note that if our astronauts (Nurses) are called away last minute before the event\, we will ask that you have a parent or carer that remains in the room at all times during the event.

DESCRIPTION:At 443 feet high\, the London Eye is currently the fourth-largest Ferris wheel in the world\, This is guaranteed to give you the most amazing views of Parliament\, Westminster Abbey\, Big Ben\, Buckingham Palace\, St. Paul’s\, The Tate Museum\, Tower Bridge\, The Shard\, not to mention the longest and most intricately styled stretches of the famous Thames River. \nSound good? We are offering our families the chance to visit The London Eye during February Half Term 2023. \nThese tickets are available to those that have not already enjoyed a Merlin attraction through us this year. \nOnce your request is processed you will be sent codes for up to 5 people who are immediate family to the child known to us. You will have to have a specific date in mind and be prepared to chose a 15 minute time slot for entry on the day. \nThese tickets are not transferable.
