DESCRIPTION:Siblings’ Day is designed to help with the plethora of feelings and potential challenges that exist in bereavement. \nWe include fun\, creative and physical activities to help reach and explore all sorts of feelings. SUMMARY:Sensory Day at Christopher's
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Days are specifically for children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties between the ages of 5 and 21\, and their families. \nSensory days generally run in the school holidays and are a chance for the whole family to be involved in a fun session and have the opportunity to explore and experience appropriate sensory activities together. \nSensory Days are usually divided into two sessions: a morning session for children between 5 and 10 years and an afternoon session for children 11 years and older. \nEach session is a fun and interactive time using a mix of sensory and craft activities around a theme for the day such as ‘The Seaside’ or ‘Fun at the Fair’ with a break for refreshments. \nThe days gives families the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and experience new skills using sensory activities that they can use at home. \nPlease be aware that all event dates are provisional and will be confirmed in the event invitation.

It is widely used in many educational and social environments and many of the children at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices benefit from it. \nAt Friendly Hands Makaton and Music Sessions you can learn key Makaton signs in a relaxed\, informal manner. Our team prepare a popular song and find specific words within the lyrics that are valuable for us to know how to sign. \nAt Friendly Hands you can learn the signs and enjoy practicing them within the song. DESCRIPTION:Sensory Days are specifically for children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties between the ages of 5 and 21\, and their families. \nSensory days run in the school holidays and are a chance for the whole family to be involved in a fun session and have the opportunity to explore and experience appropriate sensory activities together. \nSensory Days are usually divided into two sessions: a morning session for children between 5 and 10 years and an afternoon session for children 11 years and older. \nEach session is a fun and interactive time using a mix of sensory and craft activities around a theme for the day such as ‘The Seaside’ or ‘Fun at the Fair’ with a break for refreshments. \nThe days gives families the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and experience new skills using sensory activities that they can use at home.

SUMMARY:Grandparents’ Day
DESCRIPTION:Grandparents Day takes place once a year at Christopher’s.  It is an informal relaxed day for grandparents of children and young people who are using the service. Grandparents Day offers an opportunity to learn about the hospice and meet other Grandparents and some of the staff who work there. Grandparents can try out activities they may wish to use at home with their grandchildren such as story massage and sensory activities. There is time for grandparents to think about looking after themselves.
