At magic school\, we learn to make bubbling potions\, Troll snot\, and more disgusting things in Potion Making class. All of the masterclasses are tailored for the age group attending so there really is something for everyone to enjoy\, whatever age. \nOur siblings’ days help children find comfort in being with other bereaved siblings. Activities are supported by our therapists to ensure we give siblings the emotional support they need. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle\, and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware…(NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE). We will serve Hot Snotlate to enjoy in the afternoon\, magic making is hard work after all! \nIf anyone at home has tested positive for Covid we ask that you test your child (of all ages) before they come. We try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them. Don’t worry about remembering your wand\, we have a masterclass upon arrival to make sure you are fully equipped to make all things magical on the day!

DESCRIPTION:This is an entire day at Chessington World of Adventures\, seeking thrills and admiring all the wonderful animals there\, and definitely having ADVENTURES! \nThis is a joint day for both our bereaved and supported siblings at Chessington. Age 7+. \nDrop off and pick up will be at Drop Off\, Express\, and Coach parking located close to the Hotel/Lodge car park. Drop off will be at 10.30am and pick up at 4.00pm. \nPlease send your child with lunch and drinks\, waterproofs\, a hat\, sun cream\, and any money you may want them to have\, in their own backpack which they will need to carry themselves. Having everything named helps us a great deal\, but please ensure they don’t bring high-value items with them. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their day.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the popular demand for theme park tickets\, we are delighted to say that Merlin Magic Wand has shared with us some tickets for Thorpe Park for families to enjoy. Please note that these tickets are only for those who have not yet had family tickets for any other of the theme parks this year. \nThe day is yours to spend how you wish! Tag up with other families to share your experience or make memories on your own\, it’s up to you. Children under 18 must be with an adult. Please read all the information very carefully when your tickets are issued. You will need a wheelchair pass that requires you to make arrangements before you arrive and height restrictions can apply to many rides so please check the attraction’s main site to make sure it is suitable before requesting tickets. If you arrive on the day without your wheelchair pass\, you will need to queue up and present your blue badge to get the passes that you need. \nTicket codes will be sent to you directly (via our family support team email\, the Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket) and are non-transferable to another date once you have booked the date of your choice. \nPlease reply with all the names of each family member known to SSCH who will be with you. \nIf you have already received tickets to another attraction from Merlin via us this year\, I’m afraid we must leave these tickets to other families. SUMMARY:Teen Siblings - Paddle Boarding
DESCRIPTION:Meet us a Shooting Star House and jump on board the bus for a short trip to a Paddling Boarding location near Hampton Court. Starting with a lesson to learn the basics and then head out for some fun down the river. All equipment is provided. Please ensure the young people bring sun cream and a sun hat\, a water bottle and a packed lunch. Their packed lunches will be stored at Shooting Star House whilst we are out\, but please use an ice pack as we don’t have access to a fridge on the day. Afterwards\, we will return to Shooting Star House to enjoy lunch in the garden\, play some garden games and have a catch-up. Please remember no nuts. If you young person isnt able to swim we would ask that you don’t attend this event as a basic level of competence in the water is required\, even though life jackets are provided. We recommend that you wear old clothes and shoes/crocs and bring a towel and plastic bag to put your wet things into. Please bring a dry outfit to change into as well.

Spend the day with other siblings learning how to make a “fiery” rock song with the amazing Rock Steady company\, come back down to “earth” in the company of a variety of exciting minibeasts that will help inspire some insect artwork. take a deep breath of “air” and enjoy a relaxation session and of course Siblings Day isn’t complete without a splash in the warm “water” of our Hydrotherapy Pool. \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings who have similar experiences. All of these activities are supported by one of our Therapists at Shooting Star House. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Hot chocolate and s’mores will be provided to make sure we are rewarded for our hard work! \nAs before\, evidence of a negative Lateral Flow for children 12 and above needs to be shown to reception at drop off. If anyone at home has tested positive we ask that you test all aged children. We try to encourage our young people to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them.

DESCRIPTION:Put your best foot forward this New Year and join us for the first Painshill Planet Walk as part of this year’s Shooting Star Space Race. \nThe first event of this year’s mission to return to Earth is a fully accessible 2.5k (or 5k) walk around the beautiful gardens of Painshill which has been transformed into an intergalactic planet trail.  With sensory activities and games along the route\, we are hoping you will join us as we power up our rocket and head home. \nFour-legged friends are of course welcome (on short leads) and prizes will be available for the best-dressed alien\, planet\, family and of course dog! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent and accessibility information\n\nNo flashing lights\nThere will be ambient amplified music in specific areas of the walk. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a creative piece of work that will be shared for Grief Awareness month. This activity will be supported by our Art Therapist.
