DESCRIPTION:Due to the popular demand for theme park tickets\, we are delighted to say that Merlin Magic Wand has shared with us some tickets for Thorpe Park for families to enjoy. Please note that these tickets are only for those who have not yet had family tickets for any other of the theme parks this year. \nThe day is yours to spend how you wish! Tag up with other families to share your experience or make memories on your own\, it’s up to you. Children under 18 must be with an adult. Please read all the information very carefully when your tickets are issued. You will need a wheelchair pass that requires you to make arrangements before you arrive and height restrictions can apply to many rides so please check the attraction’s main site to make sure it is suitable before requesting tickets. If you arrive on the day without your wheelchair pass\, you will need to queue up and present your blue badge to get the passes that you need. \nTicket codes will be sent to you directly (via our family support team email\, the Eventbrite confirmation email is NOT your ticket) and are non-transferable to another date once you have booked the date of your choice. \nPlease reply with all the names of each family member known to SSCH who will be with you. \nIf you have already received tickets to another attraction from Merlin via us this year\, I’m afraid we must leave these tickets to other families. SUMMARY:Teen Siblings - Paddle Boarding
DESCRIPTION:Meet us a Shooting Star House and jump on board the bus for a short trip to a Paddling Boarding location near Hampton Court. Starting with a lesson to learn the basics and then head out for some fun down the river. All equipment is provided. Please ensure the young people bring sun cream and a sun hat\, a water bottle and a packed lunch. Their packed lunches will be stored at Shooting Star House whilst we are out\, but please use an ice pack as we don’t have access to a fridge on the day. Afterwards\, we will return to Shooting Star House to enjoy lunch in the garden\, play some garden games and have a catch-up. Please remember no nuts. If you young person isnt able to swim we would ask that you don’t attend this event as a basic level of competence in the water is required\, even though life jackets are provided. We recommend that you wear old clothes and shoes/crocs and bring a towel and plastic bag to put your wet things into. Please bring a dry outfit to change into as well.

Flares\, tie dye clothes\, silly hats and wacky outfits are very welcome if you fancy it! \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings. Activities are supported by our therapists to ensure we can give siblings the support they need. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware.(NO NUTS PLEASE). Candy floss and other more sensible snacks will be provided to make sure they are rewarded for their hard work. \nIf anyone at home has tested positive for Covid we ask that you test your child (of all ages) before they come. We try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them.

This is a relaxed event that the whole family are invited to attend. Spend the day with other siblings learning how to make a “fiery” rock song with the amazing Rock Steady company\, come back down to “earth” in the company of a variety of exciting minibeasts that will help inspire some insect artwork. take a deep breath of “air” and enjoy a relaxation session and of course Siblings Day isn’t complete without a splash in the warm “water” of our Hydrotherapy Pool. \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings who have similar experiences. All of these activities are supported by one of our Therapists at Shooting Star House. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Hot chocolate and s’mores will be provided to make sure we are rewarded for our hard work! \nAs before\, evidence of a negative Lateral Flow for children 12 and above needs to be shown to reception at drop off. DESCRIPTION:At 443 feet high\, the London Eye is currently the fourth-largest Ferris wheel in the world\, This is guaranteed to give you the most amazing views of Parliament\, Westminster Abbey\, Big Ben\, Buckingham Palace\, St. Paul’s\, The Tate Museum\, Tower Bridge\, The Shard\, not to mention the longest and most intricately styled stretches of the famous Thames River. \nSound good? We are offering our families the chance to visit The London Eye during February Half Term 2023. \nThese tickets are available to those that have not already enjoyed a Merlin attraction through us this year. \nOnce your request is processed you will be sent codes for up to 5 people who are immediate family to the child known to us. You will have to have a specific date in mind and be prepared to chose a 15 minute time slot for entry on the day. \nThese tickets are not transferable.

DESCRIPTION:Put your best foot forward this New Year and join us for the first Painshill Planet Walk as part of this year’s Shooting Star Space Race. \nThe first event of this year’s mission to return to Earth is a fully accessible 2.5k (or 5k) walk around the beautiful gardens of Painshill which has been transformed into an intergalactic planet trail.  With sensory activities and games along the route\, we are hoping you will join us as we power up our rocket and head home. \nFour-legged friends are of course welcome (on short leads) and prizes will be available for the best-dressed alien\, planet\, family and of course dog! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent and accessibility information\n\nNo flashing lights\nThere will be ambient amplified music in specific areas of the walk. It will only be used as background noise and will not include loud bangs\nThe route is accessible to wheelchairs with a paved route all the way around\, the café and shop are also accessible to wheelchair users.\nAccessible toilets available at the café\nVisit the park’s website for information on how to get to Painshill.

Our Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a creative piece of work that will be shared for Grief Awareness month. This activity will be supported by our Art Therapist.

DESCRIPTION:The Sunrise Walk is a unique and unmissable event organised by our fundraising team. Many of our families (and their furry friends) have enjoyed participating in previous years. Read on to find out all about the walk and complimentary places for families. \nThe very special splendour of Surrey countryside at sunrise awaits you with our Guildford Sunrise Walk. \nOur rural and undulating Guildford route follows parts of the North Downs Way\, the River Wey\, and St Martha’s on the Hill\, rewarding walkers after a steep ascent with unmissable views experienced in the magnificence of the morning light. \nWith 10km and 20km routes available everyone from family\, friends\, and your furry friends\, can enjoy these stunning surroundings encapsulated in a unique experience. \nIt’s not just the early hour that sets our Sunrise Walks apart from other challenges\, they offer the perfect opportunity to reflect\, celebrate and remember loved ones.  At the start of our walks\, we have a memory tree where walkers can hang special lanterns which can be personally decorated and are available on request when you register. \nWhat’s more\, once you complete the walk you can relax with a hot breakfast\, a Sunrise Walk medal\, and the knowledge you’ve taken part in our hospice’s flagship event.  As a supported family there’s no requirement to fundraise. If you would prefer to just come walk with us and light a lantern in memory of your child\, you are more than welcome to do so. Many of our supported families come back year after year. \nThe event is open to all ages. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
