Childrens author\, model and media personality Vogue Williams will also join us and read her new book\, “Jump for the Stars”. \nDrop in sessions take place once a month\, we try to alternate the location between both Hospices. This is a relaxed event that the whole family are invited to attend. Please ensure all those 12 and over take a Lateral Flow test before you arrive\, children under 12 will have their temperature taken on arrival and masks are to be worn unless exempt.

DESCRIPTION:An Earth\, wind\, water and fire-themed therapeutic day with other siblings. \nIt’s that time of year again where we would like to invite bereaved Siblings (5+) of the children cared for by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices to a day that’s all about them. Spend the day with other siblings learning how to make a “fiery” rock song with the amazing Rock Steady company\, come back down to “earth” in the company of a variety of exciting minibeasts that will help inspire some insect artwork. take a deep breath of “air” and enjoy a relaxation session and of course Siblings Day isn’t complete without a splash in the warm “water” of our Hydrotherapy Pool. \nOur Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings who have similar experiences. All of these activities are supported by one of our Therapists at Shooting Star House. \nPlease bring swimmers\, a towel\, a water bottle and a packed lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS PLEASE) Hot chocolate and s’mores will be provided to make sure we are rewarded for our hard work! \nAs before\, evidence of a negative Lateral Flow for children 12 and above needs to be shown to reception at drop off. If anyone at home has tested positive we ask that you test all aged children. We try to encourage our young people to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them.

DESCRIPTION:Put your best foot forward this New Year and join us for the first Painshill Planet Walk as part of this year’s Shooting Star Space Race. \nThe first event of this year’s mission to return to Earth is a fully accessible 2.5k (or 5k) walk around the beautiful gardens of Painshill which has been transformed into an intergalactic planet trail.  With sensory activities and games along the route\, we are hoping you will join us as we power up our rocket and head home. \nFour-legged friends are of course welcome (on short leads) and prizes will be available for the best-dressed alien\, planet\, family and of course dog! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent and accessibility information\n\nNo flashing lights\nThere will be ambient amplified music in specific areas of the walk. It will only be used as background noise and will not include loud bangs\nThe route is accessible to wheelchairs with a paved route all the way around\, the café and shop are also accessible to wheelchair users.\nAccessible toilets available at the café\nVisit the park’s website for information on how to get to Painshill.

Our Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a creative piece of work that will be shared for Grief Awareness month. This activity will be supported by our Art Therapist.

DESCRIPTION:The Sunrise Walk is a unique and unmissable event organised by our fundraising team. Many of our families (and their furry friends) have enjoyed participating in previous years. Read on to find out all about the walk and complimentary places for families. \nThe very special splendour of Surrey countryside at sunrise awaits you with our Guildford Sunrise Walk. \nOur rural and undulating Guildford route follows parts of the North Downs Way\, the River Wey\, and St Martha’s on the Hill\, rewarding walkers after a steep ascent with unmissable views experienced in the magnificence of the morning light. \nWith 10km and 20km routes available everyone from family\, friends\, and your furry friends\, can enjoy these stunning surroundings encapsulated in a unique experience. \nIt’s not just the early hour that sets our Sunrise Walks apart from other challenges\, they offer the perfect opportunity to reflect\, celebrate and remember loved ones.  At the start of our walks\, we have a memory tree where walkers can hang special lanterns which can be personally decorated and are available on request when you register. \nWhat’s more\, once you complete the walk you can relax with a hot breakfast\, a Sunrise Walk medal\, and the knowledge you’ve taken part in our hospice’s flagship event.  As a supported family there’s no requirement to fundraise. If you would prefer to just come walk with us and light a lantern in memory of your child\, you are more than welcome to do so. Many of our supported families come back year after year. \nThe event is open to all ages. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. Responsibility as to whether those under 7 (our previous lower age limit) can complete the walk within a reasonable time\, lies solely with the parent/guardian. \nWe are delighted to be able to offer our families five free places per supported family.  To get your code\, please email events@shootingstar.org.uk and we will send through the registration link.

DESCRIPTION:Memory Day is a safe space to join other families in treasuring your memories and the life of your child. This year we will be holding three memory days\, and you can choose to attend whichever one you prefer. \nAt Memory Day you will be welcomed with a tea\, coffee\, shortbread and brownies. There will be a short service of remembrance featuring a video montage including photos of your child\, and a buffet lunch. You can create a craft in memory of your child or visit our ‘Wall of Love’. \nIf you have not done so before\, we would like to offer you a star for the Memory Tree in the Shooting Star House Memory Garden or leaf for the Memory Tree in Christopher’s Memory Garden. This would be engraved with your child’s name and there would be time for you to hang this yourself. We invite you to have a page in the Memory Book with a photo and words dedicated to your child. \nTo be as safe as possible\, Memory Day will be held at Shooting Star House\, with the opportunity to travel to Christopher’s after the service to visit or hang your child’s leaf in the Memory Garden. We are only able to invite parents and siblings. However\, if you are attending alone\, you can bring a friend or relative to support you. \n  \nSubmitting your information\nIn order for the video\, star\, leaf and Memory Book to be ready for your Memory Day\, it is essential that we receive your booking form by Thursday 28th April 2022. DESCRIPTION:Come & join us for a fun and informal drop-in session at Shooting Star House in Hampton \nThese sessions provide time to chat to other parents/carers supported by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and meet different members of our Family Support Team. There will be opportunities for your supported child/ren and siblings to join in fun & exciting activities and engage through sensory play. \nApril Session Focus: Time to Relax with Complementary Therapies \nCaroline Brown\, our complementary therapist\, will be joining us\, to carry out a relaxing activity- more details to follow. \n  \n
