DESCRIPTION:Our staff and in-house children invite you to join us on Friday 13 December 2024 at 4:30pm for a magical evening filled with beautiful carols and festive cheer. Bring your siblings and grandparents to Christopher’s for a night filled with Christmas cheer. \nWe are lucky to have some volunteers from Corporate Partner\, RSL Awards\, to lead some Carols by Candlelight. After the carol singing\, we will have hot chocolate and delicious gingerbread treats. This event is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and create lasting memories with your loved ones. \nChristmas jumpers are always welcome but optional! Please make sure to book a ticket for everyone you plan to bring with you to avoid disappointment.

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again where we would like to borrow the Siblings (5+\, including teens!) of children who are currently receiving our support for the day at Shooting Star House! \nPlease drop off between 9.30am and 10am so we can start the day promptly. Pick up is at 3.30pm. \nOur siblings’ days help children find comfort in being with other siblings and a chance to make some new friends or meet up with ones they have met before. \nAmongst several activities\, we will roll our jumper sleeves up\, and\, get our craft on\, and have lots of fun team-building games. \nActivities are supported by our Family Support team and Therapists to ensure we give siblings the emotional support they need. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the activities throughout the day. \nKit list \n\nSwimmers and a towel\nWaterproof coat\nWater bottle\nPacked lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware. (NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE)\nAny medicines in a named bag and handed to staff on arrival\n\nWe try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. Please let us know if you think your child might struggle and we can make sure a friendly face is there to greet them. \n*Please note that this event is not for bereaved siblings\, please see our separate event tailored specifically to bereaved siblings.

DESCRIPTION:After the popularity of our last Ninja Warrior siblings event\, we wanted to go back for more! \nBook a space for your child on the fantastic sibling’s day (bereaved and supported). Spaces fill up quickly so make sure you don’t delay in RSVP’ing! Please note this is for 5 plus. This a great opportunity for siblings to come together and make new friends. If you are unsure if this event is for you\, please contact the hospice and we can chat this through with you. \nPlease bring a packed lunch and water bottle. Please don’t rely on the cafe\, as we won’t be in the main cafe area – we have our own dining area. Please no nuts. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their session. \nSpecial socks will be provided\, that we must wear at all times when on the equipment. Please keep an eye on your emails if we are required to ask for a consent form. Please ensure you drop off your child to a member of staff\, please don’t drop off in the car park. We need to see an adult and check consent forms and contact numbers when you drop-off. \nPlease drop off at 10am and the session will start at 10.30am. We have an hour’s session and then have a room booked to eat our packed lunch in. \nPlease arrive at 12.30pm to collect – look out for the Shooting Star staff wearing the branded clothing when you get there.

DESCRIPTION:A therapeutic day for siblings of our supported children.\n\n\nIt’s that time of year again where we would like to borrow the Siblings (5+\, including teens!) of children who are currently receiving our support for the day at Shooting Star House! \nPlease drop off between 9.30am and 10am so we can start the day promptly. Pick up is at 3.30pm. \nOur siblings’ days help children find comfort in being with other siblings and a chance to make some new friends or meet up with ones they have met before. This half term’s theme is self-expression in the real world and virtual worlds. \nAmongst several therapeutic activities\, we will use fun gaming and music technology to TECH-spress ourselves as well as coming back to the “real” world for some pool games in the hydrotherapy pool and a fun movement workshop! Our music therapist will teach us how to make our own music using some exciting “garage band” software and we will be visited by Gamerheads the traveling game company to play the latest games and explore some new technology. Please note all games will be age appropriate and supervised at all time. Our day will start by exploring some ways in which we can stay safe when exploring the virtual word. \nActivities are supported by our team of therapists to ensure we give siblings the emotional support they need. Please dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the therapeutic activites throughout the day. \nKit list \n\nswimmers and a towel\nwaterproof coat\nwater bottle\npacked lunch/last night’s dinner in a Tupperware..(NO NUTS or KIWI PLEASE)\nany medicines in a named bag and handed to staff on arrival\n\nWe try to encourage children to be independent and say goodbye in reception. DESCRIPTION:Book a space for your child on our siblings day at the amazing Rugged Earth Adventure centre. The siblings will try all sorts of activities from Nerf guns\, den building\, campfire building and even cooking their own lunch! \nWear clothes and trainers you don’t mind getting muddy and wet. This event will carry on rain or shine- there are plenty of places to warm up and dry off. Water bottles\, waterproof coat\, hat and gloves if cold\, change of clothes and wellies are required. \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and to ensure they get the most out of their session. \nPlease let us know of any dietary requirements\, allergies\, or medical needs. Please arrive a little early (10.40am) to fill in a siblings annual consent form where you can tell us about any medication etc. \nWe will run a waiting list for this event\, so please email familyevents@shootingstar.org.uk if you would like to be added to this list. \nPlease arrive promptly to collect your rugged adventurer at 3pm! \nProgramme\, 11am – 3pm: \n11.00: Welcome and briefing \n11.15: Nerf Battlefield \n12.00: Drink and biscuit break \n12.15: Bushcraft: Shelters and Survival fires \n13.00: Campfire lunch \n13.30: Axes and Arrows \n14.10 Marshmallow Smores \n14.30: Nerf Lazer Spec Ops \n14.55: Certificates and Farewell \nActivities: \nNerf Range: \nIssued with a camouflage jacket\, safety glasses\, and choice of favourite Nerf blaster. Two teams will play a variety of Nerf tag games on a purpose-built zone with barricades\, sandbags\, and camo nets. \nAxe Throwing: \nUsing rubber safety axes thrown at bristle targets to score points. \nSurvival fires: \nOne of the most important bushcraft and survival skills\, all will be taught its many uses and methods of lighting both modern and ancient. Cooking marshmallows over the fire is also included in this activity. \nSurvival Shelters: \nChildren will build a variety of improvised survival shelters using natural materials they gather from the land. Mini shelters are the perfect tool to demonstrate these skills. \nArchery: \nOne of the oldest skills known to man used for hunting and battle. More exciting than the average fixed point range children will stalk through the woods to find their targets using full-size bows and sucker dart arrows or mini crossbows. \nNerf Laser Ops: \nEquipped with a laser tag gun\, guests will play a variety of laser tag games\, both team and individual. All scores will be collected on a phone app to be relayed at the end of the games. \nCampfire Meal: \nGuests are served a fire cooked sausage bap and a variety of snacks including crisps\, fruit\, and chocolate whilst seated around the campfire. SUMMARY:Teen siblings half term bowling and laser quest
DESCRIPTION:We invite your teen to Woking Superbowl to meet other teens and have some half-term fun! \nWe will be having a game of laser quest (think UV lights\, laser guns\, and more!) followed by a round of bowling. Lunch will be included in the Superbowl Lunch Menu\, but teens are welcome to bring along any extra snacks and drinks they may want. \nThe event will be supported by our care events team and will be super chilled – there are no formal introductions and we are all just there to have fun!
