This is good news\, as you are less likely to pick up an injury compared to other sports. However\, you should not enter your first open water event without having swum outdoors previously. Start off gradually and build up the distance. \nThe two-mile swim will cover a challenging two full (1.6km) laps of the Serpentine. You should aim to swim at least twice a week or more and one of these swims should be outdoors where possible. \nTo train for an open water swim\, you need to consider two aspects of the event: \n\nBeing swim fit: the easiest way to become swim fit is to regularly use a swimming pool or lido\, where you can practise your technique and enhance your fitness.\nBeing acclimatised to swimming outdoors: you should be comfortable swimming in all conditions and be mindful that there will be other swimmers in close proximity to you.\n\n  \nThe London Classics’ medal\nHave you already run the London Marathon\, and cycled the Ride London 100? Completing the Swim Serpentine 2027 will allow you to claim a London Classic’s Medal. Take on 100km of sandy steps\, punctuated by peaks\, gorges\, dunes and oases\, sleeping under Africa’s starry skies. Battling high temperatures in the day and cold temperatures at night\, basic facilities for surviving in the desert and trekking long distances over hard\, rocky terrain and sand\, this challenge is one of a kind and completely worthwhile. \nAlthough tough\, your efforts will be rewarded by impressive vistas\, dramatic scenery and an immense sense of achievement. However\, each person will need to sign up separately and reach their own individual fundraising goal. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Is transport included to the start?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Return flights from London to Ouarzazate\, via Casablanca\, are included. We will walk a total of 100km. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Is travel insurance included?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n No\, you must provide your own travel insurance. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Will I need a visa?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n For UK passport holders\, no visa is required.
