DESCRIPTION:Michael Ball OBE has announced a very special concert\, We Are More Than One\, for one night only at the iconic London Palladium on Saturday 11 June in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nMichael\, who is one of our patrons\, will perform all his biggest hits\, including music from West End shows and more. \nKaren Sugarman\, Executive Vice-President at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said\, “Michael has been a truly amazing supporter for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices over the years and we’re thrilled he’s putting on this concert in aid of us.” \nMichael Ball OBE has brought the world of music and stage to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices with three star-studded concerts\, raising money for vital transportation at both hospices to help children and teenagers enjoy days out. \nThe charity has benefited from a special evening at Michael’s award-winning ‘Sweeney Todd’\, as well as winning £50\,000 on ‘Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ and £6\,600 on ‘Celebrity Catchphrase’. In 2020\, Michael took part in a special virtual fundraiser with fellow singer and the charity’s Vice-President Tony Hadley.

SUMMARY:Swim Serpentine 2021
DESCRIPTION:What is Swim Serpentine?\nSwim Serpentine is the newest event created and organised by London Marathon Events Ltd. Swim Serpentine 2021 will be the event’s third year and it’s fast becoming London’s premier open water swimming event.  There are no currents to worry about as you’ll be swimming around the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park. Complete two laps of this open air course to conquer this challenge. \nThe London Classics’ medal\nHave you already run the London Marathon\, and cycled the Ride London 100? Completing the Swim Serpentine 2021 will allow you to claim a London Classic’s Medal. Join the elite club of people who have run\, cycled and swum the capital’s most famous mass participation events.  The three events can be completed in any order\, and in any time period. Once you have your medal\, you’ll also be listed in the London Classics Hall of Fame. \nWhat makes this the event for me?\nSwimming is a low impact sport\, as it is non weight bearing. This is good news\, as you are less likely to pick up an injury compared to other sports. However\, you should not enter your first open water event without having swum outdoors previously. Start off gradually and build up the distance. \nThe two-mile swim will cover a challenging two full (1.6km) laps of the Serpentine. You should aim to swim at least twice a week or more and one of these swims should be outdoors where possible. \nTo train for an open water swim\, you need to consider two aspects of the event: \n\nBeing swim fit: the easiest way to become swim fit is to regularly use a swimming pool or lido\, where you can practise your technique and enhance your fitness.\nBeing acclimatised to swimming outdoors: you should be comfortable swimming in all conditions and be mindful that there will be other swimmers in close proximity to you.

DESCRIPTION:The Staines-upon-Thames Santa Fun Run is traditionally a great event for friends and family to dress up and paint the town red with hundreds of Santa’s running walking and wheeling around town. The event is organised by Staines Rotary\, supported by the Elmsleigh Centre\, The Two Rivers Shopping Centre\, Oasis Estate Agents and BUPA. \nThis year’s run will be a “virtual” multi directional run. Each Santa will plan and run their own 2 to 3.5km run or walk local to their area and compliant to COVID-19 rules at the time of the run. \nYou may use the Strava Running App to plan your run\, walk and upload and share photos and videos. Send us your videos\, photos and descriptions or your run and we will create a video montage of the event and post your comments photos. \nEntrants will be provided with a Santa suit and hat\, a participant number and a beard for adults. They can be customised to suit individual style. All finishers will receive a Medal\, also in the pack. \nAs the event is virtual\, it can take place at any time between Friday\, 4th and Sunday\, 6th December 2020. \nYou can register and pay using a debit or credit card of your choice.
