SUMMARY:Drop In at Shooting Star House - Christmas Special
DESCRIPTION:For the last 10 years\, along with 100s of other cycling Santa’s\, Njinga have cycled a 20 km route from Richmond\, SW London to deliver gifts to our incredible children at Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. Police are stopping traffic for this special occasion\, so make sure you are here promptly to welcome the cycling Santa’s as they come into the car park at SSH. The dining room will be your space to avoid the crowds and enjoy a hot chocolate in peace. The Santa’s will enter through the garden gate and place their gifts under the tree in Sparkle. These gifts will be scooped up by our Shooting Star Elves and gifted to our children throughout the festive period. Expect a Brass Band and to leave feeling VERY festive indeed. The Santa’s cant stay long as the police can only stop traffic for so long\, but stay with us as you normally would for a Drop In session and we can do some Christmas crafting. \nBetween 9.45am and 10.30am access to the building safely will be very tricky\, so please arrive at 9.15am to avoid the rush! We hope to see you there!!

Spend the day with other siblings learning how to draw funky cartoons\, warm up in our hydro pool playing “Dodge the Conker”\, write a pop song with our Music Therapist and of course we will try and throw in an animal experience just for good measure! Our Siblings’ Days help children find comfort in being with other siblings of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a creative piece of work that will be shared for Grief Awareness month. This activity will be supported by our Art Therapist.

DESCRIPTION:In addition to the 50\,000 people taking to the streets of London for this world-renowned event this October\, we’re really excited that London Marathon Events have also announced that the Virtual London Marathon will take place once again alongside it. \nThis means that there is even more opportunity for you to take part in this iconic marathon.  Participants will have 23 hours\, 59 minutes and 59 seconds from midnight to 23.59 on Sunday 2nd October to complete their 26.2 miles from home or anywhere in the world on the course of their choice. You can run or walk and take as many breaks as you like\, you just have to ensure you log your 26.2 miles on the official app to receive your 2022 finishers T-shirt and all important medal. \nShooting Star Children’s Hospices has 10 places available to be part of the Virtual London Marathon. These places will be allocated on a first come\, first serve basis. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this iconic bike ride and leave the buzz of the city behind\, as you journey on two wheels from the heart of London to the vibrant Brighton seafront! \nOver 4\,000 riders will make their way through the idyllic English countryside\, putting their pedals to the test on Ditchling Beacon before gliding down to Brighton to cross the finish line and celebrate their success. There are various water stations along the sign-posted route and a lunch stop at the picturesque village of Turners Hill. Mechanical support is available to keep you on course to the finish line. \nThis is the perfect challenge for all ages and abilities\, whether you are an experienced cyclist\, or fairly new to the sport. It is a great event to take on by yourself\, or with a group of friends or colleagues.
