DESCRIPTION:Official Scout Group – at Christopher’s for children and young people with a life-limiting condition aged 6+. \nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to embark on their Scouting journey. Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided. Please wrap up warm\, as we would like to get outside and do some activities (weather permitting).

DESCRIPTION:Please join us in celebrating and remembering the lives of your loved ones at our Light up a Star service. This remembrance service will include poems\, music and a moment of reflection as we all come together to light lanterns in memory of a loved one. The service will be followed by light refreshments\, a Christmas stall and a chance to talk and connect with each other. \nTickets are £5 (free for 12 and under) and include a Remembrance Lantern. Your Remembrance Lantern will be posted to you ahead of the event. We would encourage you to decorate your lantern in memory of your loved one and bring it with you to the service. \nIf you are unable to join us on the day the event will also be livestreamed on the All Saints Church Hampton YouTube page\, and will be available to watch later. Additionally\, if you would like to light a lantern at home instead of attending then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via supportercare@shootingstar.org.uk. \nThis year\, we are delighted to say that you can pre-order some Christmas knitted novelties ahead of the service. You will find this option on the booking page. There will also be an opportunity to purchase Christmas cards and knitted novelties at the end of the service. The knitted novelties have been generously made for us by supporters and all proceeds will go towards Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nAs you may already know\, it costs £12 million a year to run Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Just 29% of our funding comes from the government\, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep our vital care service running. If you would like to make a donation\, we will have collection cans and card machines available on the night. We understand that this may not be feasible for all and encourage you to donate what you are comfortable giving. If you would like your donation to be added as a contribution to an existing tribute fund\, please mention your loved one’s name when booking. \nThank you for all your continued support and for making such a difference to the work that we do. \nPlease note that the venue is in the ULEZ zone. We do hope you can join us for London’s most festive and most iconic Santa Run. \nStarting at 7.00 pm in Paternoster Square\, run the 4.0km festive fun run. \nYour route will start by going past St Paul’s Cathedral and then across the Millennium Bridge\, where you will enjoy world-famous views of Tower Bridge\, The Shard of London\, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. \nYou will then go over Southwark Bridge and join the Thames Path\, where you will head towards the Tower of London and Tower Bridge via some of London’s most unknown hidden paths. \nYou will then return through the City\, back over Southwark Bridge to the lively Bankside area\, on the south side of the River Thames. \nAfter another 500m\, you will cross the Millennium Bridge again and once again take in the views of St Paul’s Cathedral as you head towards the finish line in Paternoster Square\, completing a truly iconic route! \nYou thought it couldn’t get better! Once again\, this is a truly iconic route! No previous experience is needed for a 4k like this. The route is relatively flat and you can either run\, jog or walk. Bring all the family along. DESCRIPTION:This is a joint social for our bereaved and supported siblings aged 5+ to come together for an evening of lights and marshmallow toasting!\n\n\n\nBook a space for your child at our upcoming siblings event for both bereaved and supported siblings. This is a great opportunity for siblings to come together and make new friends! Please note\, this event is for siblings over the age of 5. \n  \nWe will be exploring the Wisley Glow event\, wandering through the magical trails and watching the light shows. This will be followed by marshmallow toasting and grabbing a bite to eat(all included). \n  \nThere will be ample Shooting Star staff and volunteers\, so your child is well supervised and will ensure they get the most out of this experience. \n  \nThe event will be held outside\, so please wear warm layers – Christmas jumpers\, hairbands or lights are encouraged (but completely optional)! \n  \nPlease ensure you drop off your child to a member of staff\, don’t drop off in the car park\, as we will need to see an adult and check waivers\, consent forms and contact numbers when you drop off. Drop off at 4pm. \n  \nPlease arrive at 7pm to collect – look out for the Shooting Star staff wearing the branded clothing when you get there.

DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open for families to drop-in to our post-Christmas Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House our Bereavement Centre on Tuesday 30 December. All family members and children are welcome\, there will be activities on-site for all to do. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling.\n\nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network during the holidays and wants to do everything we can. We will gather in the dining room\, stay as long or as little as you wish\, with coffee\, cake\, and fruit\, and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak.\nParking is on site on a first-come\, first-served basis\, please just pull up to the gates to be let in.\nIf you would like to bring a pet to a cafe please complete the pet request form at least a week in advance. \nNo need to RSVP.

DESCRIPTION:Take a moment to restore your mental wellbeing\, join us for weekly Breathe sessions.\nCreating a calm and grounding space for you\, in person and online.\nEach week we introduce a different technique bringing balance\, reducing symptoms of emotional distress or sleep disruption that you may be experiencing. Breathe is not a talking group\, it’s led by one of our counsellors through guided therapeutic practices. \nAll parents of children with life-limiting conditions and are welcome to attend. Breathe is helpful if you need space for self-care\, or if you are experiencing extreme stress and symptoms of trauma. \nIf you’d like to attend Breathe\, click Enquire and a counsellor will call you to chat through the next steps.
