SUMMARY:Virtual Chill and Chat (for bereaved families)
DESCRIPTION:The family support team are launching a group for bereaved parents to come together virtually; we are hopeful that it will provide an opportunity for connection and fellowship with other families who are experiencing grief of a child through a life limiting illness. Different from a therapy group\, this will be a relaxed and informal event to share as much or as little as you feel able to on the day. There is no pressure to attend every session\, or to record your intention to come; it is all about what is best for you at the time. We suggest arranging a quiet space where you can relax with a hot drink and a biscuit or a slice of cake. \nFor more information about this group please contact our Family Support Line\, which is open 9am-4pm Monday to Friday 01483 230974 or familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk

SUMMARY:Christmas Quiz but NO chips!
DESCRIPTION:Shepperton Friends Group invite you to join their Christmas Quiz but NO Chips! to raise much needed funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \n‘COVID-19 has already had a devastating impact on the delivery of our vital services – we have had to take the difficult decision of temporarily closing one of our hospices and have reduced the level of care that we can currently provide.’ \n‘The virus has also left us with no choice but to close some of our retail shops and the cancelling of fundraising events has had a huge impact on our fundraising income. Now more than ever we’re relying on the generosity of the public to help us to pull through\, so your support really does mean the world to us. With the increasing pressure that the NHS is under\, our vital hospice service for those most vulnerable in our community is needed now more than ever. Quite simply\, without us\, the families we support will have nowhere left to turn. Please join to help give us\, and the families who need us\, a lifeline.’ \n3 easy steps to get involved: \n\nPlease donate a minimum donation of £5 per person\, (include your name)\, click here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/janenash1978\nEmail Jane to let her know that you have donated and so that she has your correct email address.\nNearer the date of the event\, Jane will email you with a code and link for Zoom to join.\n\nChristmas attire is optional. SUMMARY:My RideLondon - Freecycle
DESCRIPTION:Grab something with wheels and get ready to take part in the My RideLondon FreeCycle. While there will be no RideLondon event this year\, thousands of people will be coming together over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August to raise money for charities like Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nWith this event you can set your own challenge (minimum distance 1km) on the wheels of your choice: bikes\, scooters\, skateboards\, trikes\, balance bikes\, roller skates\, wheelchairs or anything that is self-propelled (e-bikes are fine too!). Decide on your challenge\, then set up your fundraising page on our official JustGiving challenge group. \nNearer the time you can also download the official RideLondon app to track and log your progress over the weekend. \nFancy more of a challenge? \nWhy not join our supporters Njinga who will be virtually cycling the distance from London to Cape Town over the Ride London weekend or choose a distance of your choice. \nWe would love for everyone to get involved but for safety reasons we recommend supporters do not try and cycle the official RideLondon routes over the weekend\, or take on journeys of over 100 miles without support.
