SUMMARY:Staines Santa Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:The Staines-upon-Thames Santa Fun Run is traditionally a great event for friends and family to dress up and paint the town red with hundreds of Santa’s running walking and wheeling around town. The event is organised by Staines Rotary\, supported by the Elmsleigh Centre\, The Two Rivers Shopping Centre\, Oasis Estate Agents and BUPA. \nThis year’s run will be a “virtual” multi directional run. Each Santa will plan and run their own 2 to 3.5km run or walk local to their area and compliant to COVID-19 rules at the time of the run. \nYou may use the Strava Running App to plan your run\, walk and upload and share photos and videos. Send us your videos\, photos and descriptions or your run and we will create a video montage of the event and post your comments photos. \nEntrants will be provided with a Santa suit and hat\, a participant number and a beard for adults. They can be customised to suit individual style. All finishers will receive a Medal\, also in the pack. \nAs the event is virtual\, it can take place at any time between Friday\, 4th and Sunday\, 6th December 2020. \nYou can register and pay using a debit or credit card of your choice. Once you’ve completed this\, you will be sent an email confirmation of your entry to the event\, including when and where to pick up your Santa suit(s). \nEntry to this event is just: \n\n£12.50 for an adult (16 and over)\n£10 for a young person (aged 9 to 15)\n£5 for a child (aged 5 to 8)\n£30 for a family (two adults and two children)\n£35 for a family (two adults\, one child and one young person)\n£40 for a family (two adults and two young people)\n£45 for a group or corporate (four adults)\nFree for a child (aged 4 and under)\n\nMoney raised from the fun run will be split between local charities.

DESCRIPTION:Dunsborough Park are delighted to announce that they are opening their gardens for the first time this year in support of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices\, Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Art Research Creativity & Health (ARCH). \nThe garden will be open 7th to 11th September and 21st to 26th September inclusive. There will be two openings per day\, with a maximum of 30 people per opening. \nMorning timings for arrival will be between 09:30 and 10:00\, with the gardens closing at 12 noon. Afternoon arrivals must be between 13:30 and 14:00\, with the gardens closing at 16:00. \nThey kindly ask for a minimum donation of £7.00. Children under 10 go free. \nPlease note\, due to the Covid-19 pandemic\, tea and coffee facilities will not be available. Guests are welcome to bring picnic lunches\, but rubbish must be taken on departure from the gardens. \nEntrance to the gardens will be through the main entrance to Dunsborough Park off Newark Lane and through the field gate. While there will be no RideLondon event this year\, thousands of people will be coming together over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August to raise money for charities like Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nWith this event you can set your own challenge (minimum distance 1km) on the wheels of your choice: bikes\, scooters\, skateboards\, trikes\, balance bikes\, roller skates\, wheelchairs or anything that is self-propelled (e-bikes are fine too!). DESCRIPTION:The Mayor and Mayoress of Spelthorne\, Cllr Colin Barnard and Mrs Barbara Barnard\, would be delighted for you to join their Virtual Race Night\, held in their private Zoom box at the prestigious Lockdown Park on Friday 14th August. \nThe members enclosure will open from 7pm for you to study the form and enjoy a pre-race glass of bubbly! The first race is at 7.30pm\, with be 8 races in all\, lasting about an hour and half. \nShould you wish to attend this unique event\, organised by Al and Stu\, two fabulous hosts from the BBC\, tickets are just £20. DESCRIPTION:Join the Ash Friends of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for a virtual balloon race to raise funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices\, and be in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes. \nThe Ash Friends of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are taking part as a team in the upcoming Coronation Race which will virtually launch from 2nd June\, but you can buy a virtual balloon to support us in any upcoming race. \nEach balloon costs just £3 and you can buy as many balloons as you want to increase your chances of winning (and the amount we receive). You can give your balloon a name\, choose colours that represent us\, or decorate it to match one of the beautiful balloons at Shooting Star House\, created by our supporters Fourfront Group (see photo above). \nAll races are seven days in duration and the winning balloon is the one that they calculate would have flown the furthest\, as measured in a straight line from the launch location. You can adjust how thick/full your balloon is up until the start of the race\, so keep an eye on the all-important weather conditions in the days before the race starts. Even a popped or burst balloon can still win if the wind direction changes and sends the still-flying balloons backwards in a reverse direction. DESCRIPTION:Youth Club is one of our much-loved groups at both Christopher’s and Shooting Star House. Our new Virtual Youth Group is an opportunity for teenagers to meet up with their youth group friends for some (hopefully!) fun activities on a regular basis. \nThis first session will be a general chat via Zoom to see how everyone is getting on followed by a quiz. \nOur new Virtual Youth Group is an opportunity for supported teens to communicate with their peers whilst self-isolating and to talk in a safe environment about any anxieties they may have. Choose from either the 10k distance or go all out and do the full 20k – we can provide you with our official Sunrise Walk routes or you can plan you own. \nWalking with children? Download our children’s activity sheet to keep them occupied during and after the walk. \nWhatever you choose to do\, we encourage you and those in your household to get up bright and early\, watch the sunrise and help us to make every moment count for families who need us\, now and in the future. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 26th April should’ve been the day we took to the streets with thousands of others to cheer on our incredible #TeamShootingStar at the London Marathon. Instead we\, and thousands of other UK charities\, find ourselves struggling to survive as we face a huge loss in income. To mark what would have been the London Marathon\, one of our single biggest fundraisers\, we’re asking you to join the nation and take on The 2.6 Challenge. \nAll you have to do is pick an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2 and 6 and fundraise or donate to support Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nPeople of all ages across the country are taking on The 2.6 Challenge with a host of activities – from walking\, running or cycling 2.6 miles (or km)\, reading 26 pages of a book\, doing 26 star jumps\, cartwheels or laps of their garden\, to baking 26 star cookies or having a 26 minute sponsored silence. The ideas and options are endless\, the only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. \nThe 2.6 Challenge starts on Sunday 26th April although you can take on your 2.6 Challenge whenever is convenient to you. There are five simple steps to take to get started: \n1. Dream up your 2.6 Challenge. There are lots of ideas here.\n2.
