You may see familiar faces\, or get to know new families\, become more familiar with the hospice and learn how we can support you and how you can support each other. \nThe Café will open its doors for the first time on Friday 16th October. It will run every Friday morning from 10.00-11.30am.   \nThere is no need to book\, just sign in at Christopher’s reception and join us in the Garden Room. \nThis is a space for\, parents\, grandparents and other adult family members. DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open on Thursday mornings\, welcoming families to drop-in to our Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House\, our Bereavement Centre. There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. We will gather in the dining room\, but please note that hospice day-to-day practice will continue at Shooting Star House.\nAfter cafe\, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish to continue conversations. Our building closes at 5pm. \nIf you would like to bring a pet to a cafe\, please complete the pet request form at least a week in advance. \nNo need to RSVP.

DESCRIPTION:Official Scouts lead group – from Christopher’s for aged 6+ young people with a life limiting condition. \n\n\n\n\n  \nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to embark on their Scouting journey. Scouting is an all-inclusive youth group that welcomes young people of all abilities. Our Scout Group is affiliated with the 9th Guildford Scout Group. \n  \nScouting is accessible to all and focuses on making reasonable adjustments to activities\, badges\, and awards to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. At Scouts\, we’re open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone\, be that our young people or our volunteers\, feels welcome and comfortable to take part. \n  \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, and drinks and biscuits will be provided.

You may see familiar faces\, or get to know new families\, become more familiar with the hospice and learn how we can support you and how you can support each other. \nThe Café will open its doors for the first time on Friday 16th October. DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open on Thursday mornings\, welcoming families to drop-in to our Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House\, our Bereavement Centre. There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. We will gather in the dining room\, but please note that hospice day-to-day practice will continue at Shooting Star House.\nAfter cafe\, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish to continue conversations. These can be combined to create a unique festive decoration to take home and enjoy year after year. \n  \nAll materials will be provided\, although you’re welcome to bring along any extra decorations or finishing touches if you’d like to make your creation even more personal. \n  \nThis event is for adults only and childcare will not be available. Parents\, grandparents\, siblings and other family members all welcome. \n  \nWey Community Gospel Choir\, based in Guildford\, is returning for a second year. The inclusive choir brings people together through the joy of singing. With wellbeing at its heart\, the choir offers a fun\, supportive space where everyone can feel uplifted\, connected\, and empowered through gospel music. Their performances reflect the harmony\, energy\, and warmth that define the group. \n  \nAfter the carol singing\, we will have hot chocolate and delicious homemade gingerbread treats. Get into the holiday spirit and create lasting memories with your loved ones. \n  \nChristmas jumpers are optional but always welcome! \n  \nPlease make sure to book a ticket for each person you plan to bring and book early to avoid disappointment.

SUMMARY:The Garden Room Cafe at Christopher's
DESCRIPTION:The new café launches on Friday 16th October 2026 \nA welcoming\, weekly drop-in space for families at Christopher’s Hospice.  A regular\, informal opportunity for families to meet\, access support\, maybe try a craft and enjoy refreshments together. \nStaff from our Community\, Family Support\, Counselling and Therapies teams will be on hand each week with a chance to catch up with our In-House team too\, over a coffee or tea. \nThe Garden Room Café is a safe space to share experiences in a friendly\, relaxed atmosphere. You may see familiar faces\, or get to know new families\, become more familiar with the hospice and learn how we can support you and how you can support each other. \nThe Café will open its doors for the first time on Friday 16th October. It will run every Friday morning from 10.00-11.30am.   \nThere is no need to book\, just sign in at Christopher’s reception and join us in the Garden Room. \nThis is a space for\, parents\, grandparents and other adult family members. Carers and children are welcome too if they are not at school and siblings will be welcome during school holidays. \nIf you have any questions\, please email familyevents@shootingstar.org.uk

DESCRIPTION:Simply turn up and enjoy a take away on us with other parents and grandparents supported by Shooting Star. \n\n\n\n\n  \nCome and get to know other parents and enjoy a takeaway on us with a Christmas theme. Feel free to come on your own or with a partner\, you can also bring your own parent along.. \n  \nWe will order food before you arrive so expect a call the day before or on the day of to ask what you fancy.
