DESCRIPTION:Youth Club is one of our much-loved groups at both Christopher’s and Shooting Star House. Our new Virtual Youth Group is an opportunity for teenagers to meet up with their youth group friends for some (hopefully!) fun activities on a regular basis. \nThis first session will be a general chat via Zoom to see how everyone is getting on followed by a quiz. \nOur new Virtual Youth Group is an opportunity for supported teens to communicate with their peers whilst self-isolating and to talk in a safe environment about any anxieties they may have. The group will include fun activities\, coping strategies and will help supported teenagers to build self-esteem and confidence…like they would at our more traditional Youth Club. \nThis event is specifically for supported cognitively able young people aged 12-18 years. You or your parents will receive an invitation via text with information on how to RSVP.

DESCRIPTION:We may not be able to watch the sunrise together this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t virtually watch it together. Simply sign up to our Virtual Sunrise Walk! \nDo the Sunrise Walk your way any day over the summer – whether you walk around your local park at sunrise or you step out into your garden\, get your daily exercise whilst seeing the sun come up (or go down if you’d prefer!). \nOr\, if you’re local to Richmond or Guildford\, why not take on one of our pre-planned routes? Choose from either the 10k distance or go all out and do the full 20k – we can provide you with our official Sunrise Walk routes or you can plan you own. \nWalking with children? Download our children’s activity sheet to keep them occupied during and after the walk. \nWhatever you choose to do\, we encourage you and those in your household to get up bright and early\, watch the sunrise and help us to make every moment count for families who need us\, now and in the future. SUMMARY:Two Point Six Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 26th April should’ve been the day we took to the streets with thousands of others to cheer on our incredible #TeamShootingStar at the London Marathon. Instead we\, and thousands of other UK charities\, find ourselves struggling to survive as we face a huge loss in income. To mark what would have been the London Marathon\, one of our single biggest fundraisers\, we’re asking you to join the nation and take on The 2.6 Challenge. \nAll you have to do is pick an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2 and 6 and fundraise or donate to support Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nPeople of all ages across the country are taking on The 2.6 Challenge with a host of activities – from walking\, running or cycling 2.6 miles (or km)\, reading 26 pages of a book\, doing 26 star jumps\, cartwheels or laps of their garden\, to baking 26 star cookies or having a 26 minute sponsored silence. The ideas and options are endless\, the only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. \nThe 2.6 Challenge starts on Sunday 26th April although you can take on your 2.6 Challenge whenever is convenient to you. There are five simple steps to take to get started: \n1. Dream up your 2.6 Challenge. There are lots of ideas here.\n2. SUMMARY:Family Fun Walk at Painshill Park
DESCRIPTION:A 5K family walk through the beautiful grounds of Painshill Park with a cream tea and a medal to finish your morning. Four legged friends are welcome on short leads\, however\, they are not allowed inside the follies unless it is a service dog. Plus make a day of it\, with free entry to the park for all Family Fun Walk ticket holders. \nPainshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773\, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton – his vision was to create ‘living paintings’ in a new style of magical garden. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours\, Hamilton went on to create a sequence of breathtaking and surprising vistas at Painshill. The landscapes form living works of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect. \nThis Family Fun Walk is being run by George’s Dragons\, as part of their year of fundraising for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

DESCRIPTION:A fun day for siblings of supported children to make friends and get crafting. We will be doing clay modelling and other activities. \nSibling Days are for the brothers and sisters (ages 5-11) of children currently using the service. \nThe days are planned and facilitated by the Creative Therapists. The main aims of these days are to provide siblings with an opportunity to meet other brothers and sisters in a relaxed\, recreational and safe setting and to enable a sharing of the sibling experience and to discuss common concerns. \nEach day has a therapeutic theme and the activities are specifically chosen to promote discussion of and work around this theme. \nWe include large and small group work that helps the children feel at ease when sharing personal thoughts and feelings. It’s exciting to hopefully be a part of history in the making\, playing golf faster than it has ever been played on Burhill’s two championship courses. DESCRIPTION:Come along to The Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir Concert\, in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. \nTo purchase tickets\, please email Philip Barralet \nAbout the Choir\nThe Choir was formed on 1 September 1966\, following Cardiff RFC’s 35-0 defeat of Cardiff & District. The choir changed its name in 2000 to become the Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir\, helping to raise the profile of the choir and perpetuate the name of the Arms Park. \n\nThe choir has  appeared on television on numerous occasions\, including appearances on BBC\, Sky Sports\, ITV\, Channel 4\, New Zealand and Australian TV and MUTV. The choir sang live on Grandstand in 2002 and recorded an advertisement for the BBC‘s Six Nations rugby coverage alongside Goldie Lookin Chain in 2006. The choir were also filmed for an in-flight advertisement for Qantas airlines. They appeared on the Rogue Trader section of Watchdog\, made a very brief appearance on Strictly Come Dancing and supported Ant & Dec in a link for Britain’s Got Talent. The choir has also performed alongside numerous stars\, including Hayley Westenra\, Charlotte Church\, Max Boyce\, Peter Karrie\, Shân Cothi\, Goldie Lookin Chain and Foreigner.
