DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open on Thursday mornings\, welcoming families to drop-in to our Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House\, our Bereavement Centre. There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. We will gather in the dining room\, but please note that hospice day-to-day practice will continue at Shooting Star House.\nAfter cafe\, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish to continue conversations. DESCRIPTION:Official Scout Group – for regular attendees of our Wednesday evening Scout group.\nWe would love to invite a small group of young people who are aged 6+ to continue embarking on their Scouting journey with a Daytime Campout. \nSimilar to our usual weekly session\, activities would be made accessible to all focusing on making reasonable adjustments to ensure everyone can participate and thrive. This includes working with parents and carers to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. \nWe are opening up this day to everyone who has attended previous scouting sessions\, fostering connections and commitment. There will an opportunity to get hands on with sensory crafts\, join in with campfire songs and explore tents. Hopefully\, we will be outside (weather permitting)! \nPlease bring a packed lunch to enjoy. \nParents/carers will need to stay with their young people for the session\, refreshments will be provided.

We will also have arts and crafts for you to enjoy! \nPlease note that children must be supervised by family members at all times in the building. We also ask that no nut or kiwi products be brought into the hospice. \nJust drop in and enjoy a morning with us! \n

We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. DESCRIPTION:This August\, Christopher’s will be opening for the National Garden Scheme for a fourth year! \nOriginally set up in 1927 to support district nurses\, the National Garden Scheme now raises millions of pounds for nursing and health charities each year\, including Hospice UK\, who received a £450\,000 donation in 2025. \nThe garden space at Christopher’s is particularly enjoyed by families\, having been specifically designed with the needs of the children in mind. From adapted play equipment and sensory trails to open areas to sit and reflect. In 2022\, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices were delighted to welcome a beautiful garden courtesy of wealth-management company Brewin Dolphin to their Guildford based hospice\, Christopher’s. The garden was donated and repurposed from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver-medal winning Brewin Dolphin garden\, that award-winning garden designer\, Paul Hervey-Brookes\, designed with sustainability at its heart. \nJoin us on Sunday 2 August\, 12pm-4pm to enjoy the garden at Christopher’s with refreshments available. \nAdult admission: £5 \nChildren: FREE \nYou can book tickets on the National Garden Scheme website or pay at the gate on the day. Cash and card accepted. 100% of profits raised from admission will go to the National Garden Scheme.

DESCRIPTION:We warmly invite bereaved families to join our fortnightly Walk & Talk – a gentle\, supportive space to connect with others who understand. \nWe’ll meet at the café (Pitzhanger Pantry) in the middle of Walpole Park\, Ealing\, before taking a relaxed walk together. Family support workers will be there to listen\, chat\, or simply walk alongside you — whatever feels right for you on the day. \nThere’s no pressure to talk or share — you are welcome to come exactly as you are\, no matter how you’re feeling. Whether you’d like quiet company\, a chance to talk\, or just some fresh air\, you are very welcome. \nPlease feel free to sign up in advance or attend on the day. \n

SUMMARY:Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House
DESCRIPTION:Our doors are open on Thursday mornings\, welcoming families to drop-in to our Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House\, our Bereavement Centre. There is coffee\, cake and fruit and our Family Support Workers are there to chat\, listen\, or just be with you if you don’t feel able to speak. Everyone welcome\, including siblings\, grandparents\, or a different friend or family member. We invite you to come as you are\, no matter how you might be feeling. Parking is on-site. Just pull up to the gates to be let in. Stay as long or as little as you wish. \nSchools are welcome to bring groups of pupils who knew a child who has died to attend as a one-off\, or for successive weeks. Teachers usually identify a small group of pupils who were close to the child who has died. The cafe provides a safe space where they can make crafts and keepsakes\, and talk to others about how grief can make you feel.  If you would like to bring a group of pupils from your school to our centre\, please contact us before attending. \nIf you’d like to ask any questions\, please email familysupport@shootingstar.org.uk \nShooting Star realise the importance of a support network and wants to do anything we can to help build that. We will gather in the dining room\, but please note that hospice day-to-day practice will continue at Shooting Star House.\nAfter cafe\, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish to continue conversations. Our building closes at 5pm. \nIf you would like to bring a pet to a cafe\, please complete the pet request form at least a week in advance. \nNo need to RSVP.

SUMMARY:Bocketts Farm Park Siblings social
DESCRIPTION:Join other siblings (aged 5+) for a special day out at Bocketts Farm Park with the chance to explore the farm\, meet a wide variety of animals and enjoy indoor and outdoor play. \nThe day will include a guided farm experience with activities such as a tractor and trailer ride\, a small animal encounter session and the chance to explore areas including the Stable Yard\, Animal Discovery Barn and Farm Walk. There will also be time to enjoy the outdoor play areas and see even more animals. \nChildren will be supported and supervised by Shooting Star staff throughout the day. This visit is designed to be a fun and relaxed experience\, with children welcome to take part in as much or as little as feels right for them. \nProvisional itinerary: \n\nDrop off: 10:00am (please arrive promptly)\nGuided farm experience including tractor ride and animal encounters\nLunch together\nPig race\nFree time to explore and play (supervised by staff)\nPick up: 14:00\n\n  \nImportant information: \n\nThe visit will take place outdoors\, so please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.\nPlease bring a packed lunch and drinks for your child.\nHand washing facilities are available across the farm and will be encouraged regularly\, especially after contact with animals.\nFree parking is available on-site.\n\nIf your child has any additional requirements\, please let us know when booking so we can support you as fully as possible. \nWe hope this will be a fun day out for all our siblings!
