Shooting Star Children’s Hospices relies on grants from Trusts and Foundations to help deliver our service to the 700 families who rely on our support.
How trusts and foundations help Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
The funding we receive from charitable trusts and foundations is vital in enabling us to sustain the highest quality of care and helps us provide the most comprehensive therapy provision of any children’s hospice service, including art, play, music and complementary therapies.
Thanks to support from Trusts and Foundations, we were able to introduce a pioneering symptom management therapy to our Hospice at Home service – the first children’s hospice to do so. This specialist care is led by one of only seven consultants in Paediatric Palliative Care in the country. It enables very sick children to be cared for at home whether they are dependent on ventilators for breathing, require feeding by tubes, have complex medication regimes, or need the highest level of symptom control to ensure comfort at the end of their lives.
If you would like to know more about our existing work or future plans, we would be delighted to meet you.
