Take on your own challenge and Make Every Mile Count for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
This is your opportunity to design your own challenge event! You choose what you do, when you do it, where you do it and how much you raise. We will be on hand every step of the way with any support that you may need to reach your goal in 2020.
By joining #TeamShootingStar, you will be helping us to make every precious moment count for babies, children and young people with a life-limiting condition, and their families.
Decide on a challenge to undertake. Look on the options below and then let us know by filling out this form.
Start your challenge and begin logging your progress. It’s easy to keep track of your Make Every Mile Count challenge – join Shooting Star Children’s Hospices on Strava Club: strava.com/clubs/ShootingStar
Start Fundraising! The best way to kick start your fundraising is to set-up a page through JustGiving. Click on the orange ‘Start fundraising’ button and you will be taken through a step by step guide to creating your page. You can then share this link with your family, friends and colleagues.
Don’t forget to update your fundraising page with how you’re getting on, so everyone can see how hard you are working to earn their support!
You may also like to make your fundraising more interactive for your sponsors, by asking them to donate when you reach a milestone in your challenge. For example, you can breakdown the mileage into sections and ask for sponsorship as every section is completed.
In 2020, we will have to pay for a whole extra day, 29th February. This will cost us £18,000 and every penny you raise towards this total really will count. Here are some examples of how your fundraising will help us:
£5 could pay for materials for hand and foot castings to provide families with precious keepsakes.
£25 could pay for meals for one day for a family staying at one of our hospices.
£100 could enable a child to benefit from a one-to-one music therapy session.
£250 could cover the cost of one of our monthly youth groups, to enable teenagers supported by our service to enjoy activities together.
£500 could pay for a group day for Grandparents of supported children, to give them space to share their experiences and express their own feelings.
