Volunteer Research Assistant

This voluntary role supports the research team at the children’s hospice in their ongoing projects aimed at improving care and services. As a Volunteer Research Assistant, you will focus on administrative tasks, data collection (where appropriate), data analysis, report writing, and supporting the research team in presentations and general activities. Time:
flexible, minimum 4 hours a week for 6 months

Duties and key responsibilities

  • Collect and organize data to support research projects.
  • Assist with data entry, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Conduct basic data analysis and compile findings for reports
  • Draft sections of research write-ups and assist in preparing presentations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the research team, including scheduling meetings and managing research documentation.
  • Ensure smooth progress of research activities.

Essential Skills and experience

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Good keyboard and IT proficiency, including familiarity with software like Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyse data with attention to detail.
  • Strong written communication skills for drafting reports and presentations.
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to support the team.
  • Discretion and respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive data.
