About the role of Paediatric Nurse
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
As a Paediatric Nurse you will have the opportunity to be the nurse you’ve always wanted to be, spending quality time with each child to allow you to provide holistic, personalised care. Many of the children and young people we support have very complex health needs, enabling you to develop your clinical skills – especially in the area of technology dependency e.g. Long Term Ventilation.
Along with providing hands on clinical care there is also time for lots of fun – swimming in our hydrotherapy pool, facilitating arts and crafts, going on outings or helping children to relax in our multi-sensory room.
As well as using your current skill set to ensure children receive a first class care service, our Practice Education Team will tailor a bespoke programme of support for you and develop your competencies in the latest procedures within palliative care.
We offer a competitive remuneration package with additional unsocial hours payments, you can continue your NHS pension contributions or join our Stakeholder Pension Scheme, and we offer free onsite staff parking. You will be expected to participate in a rota to cover 24/7 365 days a year, working a reasonable share of weekends and public holidays.
If you are one year post qualification or newly qualified and have had a third year placement in a hospice setting this could also be the perfect job for you.
If you feel you are up to the challenge and are keen to join a close knit team who work well together, we want to hear from you. Please note that appointment will be subject to DBS clearance.
