This Volunteer role is to help the Family Support team at termly Youth Group and Saturday Drop-In sessions.  It is a non-clinical role that requires enthusiasm, dedication, flexibility, lots of energy and for the Volunteer to be friendly and approachable whilst maintaining boundaries and confidentiality.

Youth Group: Shooting Star House, The Avenue, Hampton, TW12 3RA and various off-site locations tba

Saturday Drop-In:  Alternates monthly between Shooting Star House and Christopher’s


Saturday Drop-In: Monthly on Saturdays 9.30am to 1.30pm (including brief and de-brief)

Youth Group:  Termly 3 x per year 9am to 3pm on Saturday

Duties and key responsibilities

  • To help set up in preparation
  • Welcome the young people and parents/carers as they arrive
  • Support the care team to facilitate the group
  • 1:1 support for young people
  • Demonstrate and participate in activities either based at Shooting Star House or on occasion off site.
  • Clear up after the group
  • Assist with the food preparation as necessary
  • Flexibility required to be prepared to assist in a wide variety of tasks
  • De-brief with the Care staff after the Group

Skills and Experience


  • Teaching/nursing or caring background is desirable
  • Ability to commit to at least one year due to the investment in training
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic with an ability to interact
  • Enhanced DBS checked – all Volunteer roles at our hospices require us to carry out a DBS check at the appropriate level – this is a simple online procedure
