Are you ready for our brand-new mission in 2021 that’s sure to be a blast?
We’re calling all budding astronauts and moon marvellers to join us on a very special mission –
the Shooting Star Space Race!
From the 1st March we are hoping our supersonic supporters can help our virtual rocket shoot for the moon by walking, running, cycling and scooting as many miles as you can to help our rocket reach its lunar destination. Join our mission today.
It’s an astronomical 238,855 miles to the moon, but before you shudder in your space suits we have used a special Shooting Star formula (one Earth mile = 50 miles) so our Space Race team of fundraisers need to collectively cover 4,777 miles in 31 days to make our mission to the moon a success.
However you planet, we think it’s an out of this world challenge that is fun for all your friends and family – and as it runs (or should we say flies) over the whole month of March you can ‘space’ out your miles to work for you.
With our mission now launched, we’re recruiting for amazing astronauts to join our Space Race team – it’s super easy to sign up and once you do, you’ll be taken to mission control where you’ll be given lots of fundraising tips and ideas on how to get started on your Earth miles.
Our marvellous mission is inspired by Chief Astronaut Nicholas. Last year, during the coronavirus pandemic, Nicholas stayed at with us for emergency respite. During his stays at our hospice, we helped Nicholas to build and launch his very own space rocket, which became the inspiration for the Shooting Star Space Race.
By joining our Space Race team, you’ll be helping to ensure we continue to make every moment count for children just like Nicholas; now and for many lightyears.
