A friendly, bright and positive home from home environment for the children and families that we care for. Your team would be helping to keep them as bright and welcoming as possible. Jobs can range from inside and out, and could involve re-hanging curtains, painting, weeding flower beds, planting new flowers, painting sheds and fences to just a general tidy up. The jobs depend on the season and the weather, but you’d be fully briefed ahead of your visit and you’ll be guided by our staff and regular volunteers.

Where you can volunteer
Our hospices
Distribution centre
Our charity shops play a vital role in helping to fund our care service. Our distribution centre is the hub for all of our stock and donations for these shops, and with your help we can ensure that the right stock reaches the right place. Jobs can range from sorting donations, moving winter/summer items ready for distribution, dividing items for each shop to creating and wrapping gift hampers for tombolas / raffles.
Apprentice shop challenge
Our most exciting, team building volunteer experience! The Apprentice Shop Challenge is a unique way for staff to volunteer, and building their leadership and sales skills, whilst raising vital funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
Other ways you can volunteer
Cheerers
Cheering volunteers are essential to the success of our events. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to provide the level of support we do to our incredible supporters who tackle cycling, running & trekking events to raise money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. So join us in cheering, clapping, whooping and shouting words of encouragement to our runners and cyclists at various events throughout the year.
Event volunteers
Event volunteers help at our bespoke challenge events run smoothly. Roles include marshalling the route, registering participants and selling merchandise. Becoming an event volunteer is perfect for those who want to get involved, but are unable to make a regular commitment.
