Professional courses and open days

We welcome health and social care professionals visiting to learn more about the care we provide and how we can work together. We also offer a variety of professional courses throughout the year. We have six open days for professsionals at our Guildford hospice each year. The visit starts with a presentation about Shooting Star Children’s Hospices which includes the history, what services are available, referral criteria and process as well as how the service is funded. This is followed by a tour of the hospice with the opportunity to ask questions and find out more from a member of our care team.

SPAN

SPAN is the Surrey and South West London Paediatric Palliative Care Area Network. Over 2023 they will be running several multi-disciplinary clinical simulations in paediatric palliative care. These will explore the knowledge and skills required when encountering common PPC scenarios, with exposure to cases highlighting clinical management and advanced communication. These days are run by SPAN and hosted by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.  Please contact SPAN if you have any questions about these events.
