On a bright Sunday morning, 40 #TeamShootingStar radical riders took to the saddle to take on the challenging 100 mile course that was Prudential RideLondon 100, raising £36,000 and counting for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

On Sunday 4 August, and during a break in the heatwave and torrential storms, the 7th Prudential RideLondon cycling event took place. Known as one of the greatest cycling challenges in the world, the route takes the riders through iconic sights of the capital and stunning Surrey scenery.

Our triumphant team included loyal corporate supporters, bereaved parents and our very own Elaine Rose, who is part of the Care Team at Christopher’s, our Guildford hospice – who has raised an amazing £2,000!

#TeamShootingStar riders were cheered and wooped along the way by our Challenge Team and volunteers who were at the cheer points at Kingston from 6.30am until the last riders sped past at 4.30pm.

One cyclist from #TeamShootingStar said, “It was such an honour to cycle for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Thank you for cheering us on – it really helped. Once I high fived you, my mind set was ‘right lets get to the finish line’! An absolute privilege to ride and raise money for this amazing charity.”

Loren Ludlow, Challenge Events Fundraiser said, “It was wonderful to see our riders, smiling and waving as they zoomed past and we are so proud of each and every one of them for taking on such a tough challenge. A huge thank you also must go to the staff and volunteers who gave up their time to support with cheering – it means so much to our riders to have some well deserved encouragement along the route. The huge amount of money raised will go on to make such a difference to the families who rely on our support and care.”
