Leading office design and fit-out specialist, Area Sq – which is part of long-time corporate supporters, Fourfront Group – have very generously given the reception at our Guildford-based hospice, Christopher’s, a wonderful facelift!
Upon visiting Christopher’s for a meeting, Head of Client Support at Area Sq, Justin Lewis, noticed a tired reception area. Recognising the opportunity to support the charity in a new way, Area Sq, along with a host of sub-contractors, provided their services and materials free of charge to refurbish the reception space.
The new reception at Christopher’s was officially opened on 2 February, and revealed a refreshing concept which is open and colourful, making The Friendlies a key feature of the space. To create a welcoming environment and help make children, families and visitors as comfortable as possible, Area Sq moved from the reception desk from behind a walled area to allow staff and volunteers to easily interact with anyone who enters the building.
Justin Lewis, Head of Client Support at Area Sq, said: “It’s been a real privilege to have been able to deliver this project for Shooting Star Chase. To minimise disruption, we managed to condense the schedule of works, which would usually take three weeks to complete, into a one-week project programme. This wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic help and support from the rest of the project team. On behalf of the entire Area Sq team, we are always happy to donate our time and services to organisations that dedicate themselves to people in need of a helping hand.”
Fourfront Group have been supporting Shooting Star Chase for almost 10 years, and employees have raised over £242,000 through events and sponsorship. David Burland Chief Executive Officer of Shooting Star Chase, explains what the work means to the charity, “We can’t thank our fantastic supporters, Area Sq, enough for their generosity, hard work and expertise throughout the refurbishment of Christopher’s reception area. After 15 years of use, the space was certainly in need of a facelift and it now looks incredible – providing a brighter and more welcoming entrance to the building for families and visitors.”
