In October, Dominic Raab MP will be skydiving from 15,000 feet to raise money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

As the local children’s hospice charity for Dominic’s constituency of Esher and Walton, Dominic is very familiar about the vital care and support we provide to families across Surrey and 15 boroughs of London and he’s hoping his skydive challenge will raise at least £20,000 for us!

Esher and Walton MP Dominic Raab said, “Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is an inspirational local charity, supporting families across the area – including in Elmbridge – at the most difficult of times. I’ve been touched by the devotion of their staff and volunteers and have seen how valuable to facilities at their hospices are. Like any parent, I can’t begin to imagine what families using these facilities are going through.

“They have shown great resilience through the pandemic, but it’s been a hard time. I want to do something to help and am looking forward to raising as much as possible for this brilliant charity. Whatever your reasons for wanting me to jump out of a plane, any support would be greatly appreciated.”

Karen Sugarman MBE, Executive Vice-President of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said, “Over the past few years Dominic has taken the time to support our work at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and it was evident when he visited our West London hospice, Shooting Star House, that Dominic had great empathy for our work.

“To mark my 35th year in palliative and cancer care and as my local MP, I challenged Dominic to undertake a skydive to raise vital funds for the charity and without hesitation, he agreed to that challenge. After enduring such a difficult time during the pandemic with the loss of many key fundraising events, which we are so reliant on, we cannot be more grateful to Dominic for his support and great enthusiasm to help us.”
