A stampede of 117 fundraisers tackled The Broadgate Tower’s 877 steps for our Tower Run last weekend – and with money still coming in, we’re hoping to reach our target of £17,000!
The event was our second Tower Run at The Broadgate Tower, which is one of London’s tallest buildings and stands at 541ft. Participants walked, jogged or sprinted up the skyscraper’s 35 floors and reached the breath-taking view of the capital at the top in times ranging from 4 minutes 23 seconds to 20 minutes 44 seconds.
The Shooting Star Chase challengers – which included corporate supporters, WSM Advisors, who raised over £2,500; supported mum, Jo Grimshaw; and a number of elite tower runners – were greeted at the finish line with their medal and a complimentary sports massage, before celebrating their achievement with a glass of bubbly at the Tower Run reception.
Kate Law, Challenge Event Fundraiser at Shooting Star Chase, said: “It was a fantastic day and we’re so proud of everyone who stepped up to the challenge of the Tower Run and powered through to the top. We were chuffed to see the participants, some of which included our brilliant corporate partners and supported mums, celebrate at the top of the tower and enjoy the amazing views in the sunshine.”
“The money raised by the Tower Run will go a long way in helping us provide vital care, both in our hospices and in the community. We can’t thank the participants enough for supporting Shooting Star Chase so we can make every moment count for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families.”
