At the beginning of the month Shooting Star Chase was thrilled to be a featured charity on eBay, allowing buyers to give a donation at checkout to help us continue our vital work.

To celebrate this great opportunity we had some unique items up for grabs throughout the week, with lucky bidders vying for an array of auction items and subsequently raising lots of money to help support the children we care for.

Football fans were in for a treat with not one but two signed football shirts on offer! The two Chelsea shirts, signed by players John Terry and Gianfranco Zola respectively, were eagerly watched by Blues fans eventually selling for £56 a piece.

We couldn’t let #Maythe4thBeWithYou just pass us by last week! So in its honour we celebrated #StarWarsDay by auctioning a toy Darth Vader helmet signed by the original man behind the mask, David Prowse. The force was strong as bids came in thick and fast for this iconic item raising an out of this world £155.

The last item up for auction proved it’s worth checking your change as you never know what may appear! A rather unusual coin was spotted by the lovely people at Travelex, a company who convert any unwanted foreign currency that is donated to us. Whilst going through one of the collection tins, hidden amongst the euros and cents, was a 1912 George V gold sovereign coin. A highly collectable coin, the auction immediately rose to £100 on it’s very first day – eventually selling for an impressive £240.01! Making both Shooting Star Chase and the buyer quids in!

We’d like to thank all the supporters who bid and bought an item through eBay during the week and chose us to give a donation to at checkout. Also a huge thanks to eBay for letting us be the featured charity. We’re yet to find out how much we have raised over the week in checkout donations but keep an eye out on our social channels for more news!
