Supporters often go the extra mile when fundraising for us; however Justin Lewis took that to the extreme as he took on the Thames Tow Path Challenge – walking a phenomenal 107 miles in just 4days.

Embarking on his triumphant trek last Thursday (19th) from Thames Head, a site in Gloucestershire traditionally identified as the source of the River Thames, Justin has been following the scenic path, averaging a blister inducing 27 miles every day!

Justin has decided to take on this challenge in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. He has a close connection to the charity, as Head of Clients Support for workplace design and fit-out specialists Area, part of the long-time corporate supporters of the charity Fourfront Group.

His 4 day journey is just one in a long line of challenges and support Fourfront Group has given Shooting Star Children’s Hospices since they became corporate partners in 2008. Previously the company have given their time and expertise to wonderful refurbishments at our hospices in Guildford and Hampton, as well as staff taking on individual and team challenges.

Also it is hoped that Justin completing his epic journey won’t be the only reason to celebrate – as Fourfront Group’s dedicated support to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices means they are soon to reach a phenomenal milestone of £500,000 in fundraising!

Alex Rennie, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said,“The ongoing support Fourfront Group give to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is immeasurable.  They have transformed areas in both our hospices to make them warm, inviting, sensory spaces for the families we support and over the years they have taken part in so many challenges to raise such an amazing amount of money.

“Justin took on an insanely tough challenge – tackling the ever changing weather and unrelenting slog of walking so far in such a short space of time! He’s faced everyday with his usual humour and kept us all amused with his tweets about interesting encounters he’s met along the way! We are so proud and grateful to Justin and all at Fourfront Group for being such super supporters who help us continue to make every moment count for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families.”

Justin has raised an amazing £3,300 and counting. Justin said, “Having visited Shooting Star Children’s Hospices on numerous occasions, as well as leading on the refurbishment of Christopher’s and Shooting Star House, I’ve seen first-hand the difference donations make!”
