Our awesome London Marathon runners conquered 26.2 miles on Sunday 26th April and raised over £76,000 (and counting) for children with life-limiting conditions in London and Surrey. What legends!
A total of 72 inspirational athletes took to the start line at Blackheath and made it around the grueling course, motivated to power on by our enthusiastic Shooting Star Chase cheering squad.
The fastest of our celebrity runners was CJ de Mooi, an actor and panelist on Eggheads, who completed the race in an incredible 2 hours 58 minutes. William Jones and Ruby Woolfe were next across the finish line with impressive times of 3 hours 12 minutes and 2 hours 59 minutes respectively.
Shooting Star Chase runners were greeted with a spectacular welcome at Central Hall after the event by staff, volunteers, friends and family – and were treated to a massage, a shower, some hot food and a well earned drink. Some even marked the occasion by designing their own Friendlie on our famous board.
We were also lucky enough to have two children, Arun and Anna, take part in the children’s 5K mini marathon – who both ran brilliant times and joined the team at Central Hall to celebrate.
Our runners have so far raised a huge £76,000 – and there’s still a lot of money to filter through from online fundraising pages and the team are on course to reach their fundraising target of £150,000. If you’ve been inspired you can donate (please specify you’re donating for London Marathon 2015) or even get involved yourself by entering the ballot for next year’s London Marathon.
