Families come together for our end of summer drop-in
Families came together on Saturday 20 September, for a end-of-summer drop-in, celebrating a summer filled with creativity, play, and most importantly – fun!
The morning was packed with engaging activities, from crafting glowing lighthouses and decorating lanterns, to mindful colouring and making pom-pom garlands. Families also enjoyed threading beaded garden decorations, all of which could be taken home to enjoy.
Football and fun sensory games brought energy and laughter to the garden, while indoors, a delicious spread of cakes, biscuits, juices, and ice-pops kept everyone going!
As the our end of summer drop in wrapped up, families left with their hands full of handmade crafts to take home and fun memories made. A huge thank you goes out to our incredible volunteers who helped make the day so special.
Hilary Pearce, Events Assistant at Shooting Star, comments: “It was a really fun event with lots of creativity. One of the siblings we support was so immersed in creating that he kept dashing between activities and his mum, excitedly showing off each new masterpiece: “I’ve got to show Mum!”. His enthusiasm was infectious, keeping everyone on their toes. It was heart-warming to see a family sharing such a positive experience.”
This event marked the finale of a vibrant summer programme for Shooting Star families. Highlights included the Youth Connect weekend, where Paralympics GB athlete Lizzi Jordan inspired children supported by Shooting Star, and memorable days out such as a trip to London Zoo. Throughout the season, our Care Events team worked tirelessly to create wonderful experiences and lasting memories for families.
