Many brave ‘soles’ succeeded at the spectacular Fire Walk in Chiswick
On Thursday 3 November, 34 brave ‘soles’ took to the hot, fiery embers, walking barefoot and bravely. The Fire Walk was tackled by a tremendous group of supporters and some Shooting Star Children’s Hospices staff who got involved with our unique challenge event.
Alongside the Fire Walk, was tons of fire filled fun with a spectacular firework show and fire dancers who amazed the crowd of 5000 with their skills.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Challenge Events Fundraiser, Marianne Paisley shared, “The guides were really knowledgeable and did a good job of making us feel both safe and pumped up ahead of the walk. We were able to get our feet nice and cold beforehand, so I didn’t really feel the first few steps, then after that it does feel like walking on hot sand. A very unique sensation but not painful at all. I had a huge adrenaline rush after, a real buzz.”
Luckily the rain held off and everyone had a wonderful night getting involved with the walk or just watching the live entertainment, and by the end of the night a total of £11,000 has been raised!
One of our hot steppers said, “The event was amazing! Thank you to the team for making this wonderful event that Mark and I felt privileged to be part of. I spoke to a mum that had lost her child and she said Shooting Star Children’s Hospices was amazing and she didn’t know what she would have done without you!”
A huge thank you to Chiswick Park for hosting our hottest event around, and support from Time 4 Change for ensuring the walk went smoothly and Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work for the photography.
