Shooting Star Children’s Hospices welcomes Lisa Dennis as Director of Care

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to welcome Lisa Dennis as its new Director of Care.

Lisa is a well-established strategic leader and expert in nursing and end-of-life care. A registered nurse for nearly 20 years, most recently she was the Consultant Nurse for end-of-life care at Kent Community Healthcare Foundation Trust. Prior to this role she was Matron and then Care Director at Hospice in the Weald. She was recently awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse for her commitment to high-quality standards of practice and patient-centred care.

Paul Farthing, Chief Executive of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said, “Our ambition is to support every family with a life-limited child or whose child has died when they need us. Lisa brings with her a clear passion and strong commitment to our ambition and values, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to our team.”

Lisa who formally assumes the role on Tuesday 20 September, said of her appointment, “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Having worked previously in the hospice sector, it has been a long-held desire to work in a dedicated children’s palliative care setting. I look forward to meeting everyone and supporting the team to reach out and support more families.”

Lisa joins following the announcement that our Guildford-based hospice, Christopher’s, has been given the highest possible overall rating of ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in May. You can read more here.
