Supporting families with the rising cost of living
We understand the financial challenges families living with a child with a life-limiting condition may face. Our Family Support Workers help families find support that is available to them, by sourcing funding for specific equipment, household items or even special experiences.
Now, with the rising cost of living, we know the families we support are only under more financial strain. We asked our families to share their individual experience of this with us and have adapted some of our services in response. We have made our hospice facilities available to families in the daytime, including access to our warm hydrotherapy pool and sensory room and we are helping families struggling to buy food to access local food banks.
Our Family Support Team have also created a help sheet for supported and bereaved families. The help sheet provides information on financial support and agencies in their local area. There are also various charities that can offer support to families, with bills, funds and more. We encourage families to read the help sheet and share it with others who could benefit from the useful information.
Also, families have told us that our family events are hugely valuable, providing memory-making experiences that some feel they can’t so easily afford. These events go a long way in giving families the chance to have quality time as well as a safe place just to be together, the events also offer parents the time to relax or complete day to day errands whilst their child can socialise with other children, receive therapy or other one-on-one care.
If you would like to make a donation which is vital in running these events and our hospice service, you can donate today and you can find more about the events here.
