World Ocean Day with Princess Ariel

Disney’s beloved princess, Ariel, left her home in the sea to come onto land and visit families and children at Shooting Star House in Hampton on World Ocean Day.
It’s recognised across the world on June 8 to catalyse collective action for a healthy ocean and a stable climate. The United Nations has officially recognised the day since 2008.
To mark the day, Ariel joined us for mermaid and sea creature crafts, music, cake and bucket loads of sand. There was also glitter tattoos, hair braiding, and singing.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Event Assistant, Hannah Pickup, said, “We were also lucky enough to be joined by Michelle from the Community Massage Project who provided fin-tastic face paint for children and adults alike.
“It was great to see lots of smiling faces and hear the children’s beautiful singing voices.”
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices hosts a range of family drop in events throughout the year. These days are an opportunity for family members to make connections and build their support network with others who are going through similar experiences. Our care events team produces an annual programme of 150 events. These are unique and precious opportunities for parents to meet other parents, siblings to meet other siblings and grandparents to meet other grandparents.
The range of events we hold is only possible thanks to your support. We need to raise £10 million a year to keep our service running. Find out more about the ways you can help.
