Yes, we welcome all members of the family to join us for our Open Day. Shooting Star support the whole family, and are looking forward to sharing our wonderful space with children and parents alike. We are planning lots of fun filled activities to keep children entertained during their visit.
Open Day frequently asked questions
Yes, we have two sessions for our Open Day. The morning session is from 10am-12.30pm and the afternoon session is from 1.30pm-4pm. You are welcome to join us at any time within your session time, but we expect that you may like to allow 60 – 90 minutes to enjoy our tour and garden activities. Given this, the suggested last entry time for the morning slot is 11.30am, and for the afternoon we would suggest a last entry of 3pm. Shooting Star House will close between 12.30pm and 1.30pm for a staff break and to prepare for the guests attending the afternoon session. The Open Day will end at 4pm.
We would suggest that guests use the available roadside parking nearby Shooting Star House or park in the Sainsbury’s car park next door to our site (this is free parking). If you are parking along the road please do not park on the curb, on yellow lines or in restricted areas. We also ask that you do not block the driveways of our neighbours.
We have limited parking spaces available onsite; we would like to reserve these for supported families or guests who require accessible parking. Yes, our building is fully accessible and the Open Day activities will all take place on the ground floor. We will also have activities outside in our garden which is also accessible.
No there will be no Shooting Star Children’s Hospices nursing staff onsite for the Open Day. We will however have a sufficient number of first aid trained staff to ensure safety for the size of event that we are holding.
This event is free to all of our wonderful supporters, past and present supported families and those in the local community. There is no charge to join our tour and we will ensure that there are free activities to keep children entertained, including face painting.
There will be various opportunities to donate to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices at the Open Day if this is something you wish to do.
Some of our activities will require a small payment to take part. You may also like to purchase something from our retail pop-up shop.
Supported families will be provided with a wristband for the Open Day, all activities will be free of charge including the Toy Tombola.
Yes, by attending this event, you agree that any images or videos that yourself or any minors that you are responsible for can be used by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for internal and external communications and social media posts at any time the organisation deems to be appropriate.

During the Open Day, we will be serving refreshments and cakes. We will ensure that all of our sweet treats are nut free. We kindly ask that guests do not bring any products that contain nuts onsite. We also aim to provide Gluten / Dairy free options for those with allergies and intolerances.
