No one needed to ‘try’ to have a good evening at Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday 28 March, as representatives from over 25 different companies came together for a special corporate partners ‘Thank You’ to celebrate their amazing support over 2017.Shooting Star Chase corporate partners help raise vital funds & awareness, but most importantly their incredible support helps make every moment count for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. The event was hosted by Andrew Cosslett, Shooting Star Chase Trustee and Chairman of the RFU, with guests given an exclusive private stadium tour before an awards presentation in the Members Lounge. Acting CEO Piers Vimpany thanked corporate partners and introduced Mike Sherrard, a supported Dad, who also took to the stage to tell his very moving story of how Shooting Star Chase supported his daughter Alice and his family.
For the first time some very special awards were given out to recognise all the different ways that corporate partners support Shooting Star Chase.
And the winners were:
Volunteering Champions 2017 – Fourfront Group
Fourfront Group have supported Shooting Star Chase for over a decade and in 2017 alone, volunteered over 300 hours of their time! On several occasions they visited our Guildford based hospice, Christopher’s with gardening, fence painting, constructing new play equipment and even designing and building a brand new feature, a ‘Mud Kitchen’ in the sensory walkway.
Event of the Year 2017 – Fuller’s
Corporate events never cease to amaze us with their innovation, growth year on year and of course the phenomenal amounts of money they raise for Shooting Star Chase. In 2017, Fuller’s quite literally went the extra mile as more than 50 participants spent over 12 hours in the saddle to cycle a very crazy 125 miles from London to Bath, raising over £50,000 for Shooting Star Chase.
Gift in Kind Champions 2017 – Pelican Procurement
Gift in Kind donations make a huge difference to Shooting Star Chase. Anything from electronic goods and gift vouchers, to venues for events or excess stock, it can all help us make cost savings and in turn allow us to spend more money on our vital care services. For over five years our entire programme of challenge events has been supported by Pelican Procurement who donate refreshments; this has included water, energy drinks, fruit, muffins, crisps and much more. This support has extended further to supplying ice creams and snacks which is thoroughly enjoyed by supported families at the annual fun day at our hospice in Guildford.
New Corporate Partner 2017 – IP Solutions
In 2017 IP Solutions tested their intelligence with a quiz night and cycled circles around London. They also won the accolade of the first company to come straight from the pub to our Sunrise Walk! In one year and amongst 50 employees they have raised an incredible £20,000.
Outstanding Achievement 2017 – Fuller’s
Fuller’s have been supporting Shooting Star Chase since 2012 and during this time have tirelessly supported the charity in every way possible. This unwavering support has resulted in them recently reaching a massive fundraising total of over £500,000. This amazing achievement has been reached through a plethora of challenges and activities including donating 50p for every child’s meal sold, skydives, an annual cycle challenge, family fun days, ice bath challenges, London Marathon runners, Barrel Rolls, quiz nights and so much more besides.
Outstanding Individual Fundraiser 2017 – Justin Lewis
This special award recognises an individual who has gone above and beyond, quite literally, to support Shooting Star Chase. For over 10 years, Justin Lewis has taken on incredible challenges to raise vital funds for the charity. These challenges have included cycling from London to Paris, abseils, bungie jumps, walking on fire and completing the 3 Peaks Challenge.
Not stopping there; Justin was instrumental in the refurbishment of the reception at our Guildford based hospice, Christopher’s and has most recently organised and walked 40 miles on his own to plan his company’s annual fundraiser.
