1 – 7 June marked Volunteers’ Week where those who give up their time, expertise and skills for organisations across the country are celebrated for the amazing work they do.

Shooting Star Chase has a huge 700 volunteers helping out across the charity, who each play an integral role in the running of the charity. From our hospices and head office to our charity shops and our many events that take place throughout the year. Quite simply we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our wonderful volunteers!

Volunteers' week

On Monday and Tuesday of the week volunteers were invited to our Hampton hospice, Shooting Star House and our Guildford hospice Christopher’s for some celebration tea and cakes. The coffee morning and afternoon tea were an opportunity to catch up with one another and hear all the latest from the charity.

Melanie Hill, Head of Volunteer Development said, “Our volunteers are a lifeline for Shooting Star Chase. It’s so important to recognise the amazing contribution each and every one of our volunteers give to Shooting Star Chase and I’d like to say a huge thank you to them during Volunteers’ Week. Not only do we gain from their skills and expertise in a myriad of ways, they save the charity hundreds of thousands every year. They truly are inspirational and we can’t thank them enough for all they do.”

Over the week we have been showcasing just a few of our volunteers across the charity – check out Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to find out more.

We’re always looking for new people to join our team too, just a few hours will make a huge difference.
