10-year-old Roxanne has been getting creative whilst raising lots of money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices by making and selling a huge array of homemade cards!
The idea started when Roxanne was with her Nanna Karen, who is a regular volunteer at our Weybridge shop on Queen’s Road. “I used to make cards for friends and family, so had lots of arts and crafts bits at home,” said Karen. “Roxanne and I thought it might be a great way of raising some money for the charity.”
So they both set about designing and crafting and over a couple of months have made over 200 cards for all occasions. Selling the cards for 50p each, Roxanne has set up stalls outside her home in Hersham, outside her Nanna Karen’s and at school – raising an amazing £100 so far!
“I like art and things which don’t include sitting down for long. So this keeps me busy,” says Roxanne. And when asked if she has any other fundraising plans in the future, “Well I’m trying to brainstorm some ideas of something else we can do, until then I’m going to continue to do these cards!”
Why not follow in Roxanne’s footsteps and find out all the other ways you, friends and family can fundraise and help make every moment count for the families we support.
