Three Shooting Star Chase supported families got star treatment at the premiere of the blockbuster hit The Revenant last week, where they walked the red carpet alongside Hollywood actors and actresses – all thanks to corporate supporter Ingenious.
A supported mum and dad whose son receives care from our Hampton-based hospice, Shooting Star House, had a well-deserved night out together at the glitzy event, and William and Abdullah, two teenagers who are also cared for by the hospice, were accompanied by their family to the premiere.
Corporate supporters Ingenious work closely with 20th Century Fox and were able to source tickets for our supported families and enable them to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience.
The Revenant’s UK screening, which took place at the Empire cinema on Thursday 15 January in Leicester Square, was attended by the film’s leads, Oscar-nominated Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio, who also starred in Inception together. Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, John Hurt and Ellen Page were also among the celebrities to attend the premiere.
The movie, which is inspired by true events, is a story of survival on the American frontier. DiCaprio plays legendary explorer Hugh Glass, who is brutally mauled by a bear and left for dead by his own hunting team. Released in the UK on Friday 16 January, the Shooting Star Chase supported families not only got to hobnob with the stars, they also got to see the much-anticipated film before most of the UK.
Corporate Fundraiser, Anne Carey, said: “We are so grateful to Ingenious and 20th Century Fox for this amazing opportunity for our supported families. They all had a fantastic night and couldn’t stop smiling. Leo was just inches away on the red carpet and a few of the group were beside themselves!”
